Hello all

I’m new to the Catholic Faith. Before each decade of the rosary I ask Mother Mary for a specific request, is this the correct thing to do? Is there a specific way in which we ask?

Also I have just finished reading sister Lucia’s memoirs. She said she would often say a Hail Mary from someone. What does this mean. Is it a one time recitation of the Hail Mary and asking for an intercession?

Thanks for your time.

Tom

If I asked you to pray for me, what would you say? I will be happy if you pray one Ave for me, a Decade for me or if you simply say “Lord, I am praying for Little Lady”.

Fr Dubay’s books on Prayer are very good!

It is good to do what you are doing…asking for something prior to each decade of the rosary.

I remember a retreat priest telling a group of us that we do not have to limit the Lord. He is ready and able to give us what we need and more. So, ask away, and leave it to Him!

You can ask for an intercession before the Rosary, at each decade, etc–there are no rules. I sometimes do one thing, sometimes another. Many times I just offer it to Mary to do with the graces what she wants–that way, they will be used for the best!
And yes, you can pray a prayer at any time for any person in need, or for your own needs. A formal prayer (Hail Mary, Our Father, the Divine Mercy chaplet etc) or simply a spontaneous prayer from the heart. There’s no limit to prayer and no “right” way to do it!
