I find this troubling, as it was a link from the USCCB website on marriage. I am of the opinion that the differences in philosophy cause us to view the same thing from entirely different perspectives. I have tried to guard the Catholic Faith with fierceness but these sites say…oh go to his church on this sunday and then go to the catholic church the next…they do not mention the obligation to go to church every sunday in the Catholic church. I may have missed something.

However, they do have a point about respecting the whole person where they are…i am not bringing this up to read about how catholics and non catholics should not marry, they do and I just find this weird. that the interchurch website is linked from our bishop’s website.

I did not read anything contrary to Catholic teaching at the first link. The child is raised in the Catholic faith (promised by the Catholic) and that means attending the Catholic Church.

I did not see the link at the bottom of the page (there are several) for the second reference. Which one?

The third mentions attending separate or twice on Sunday.

"Many interchurch couples worship at two separate churches. Some even manage to share rides to Sunday services, so that the ride home becomes an opportunity to enrich one another with the inspiration each gained that morning.

Other couples, who want to preserve both traditions but not further cut into their time together, attend Saturday evening Mass, saving Sunday morning for worship at the Protestant church."

The Catholic teaching is to avoid indifferentism, so a Catholic can share some prayers, and be a reader in the non-Catholic Church but not participate in the non-Catholic Lord’s Supper (and there are some other restrictions).

I included the link to the Interfaith website that was on the page…it said that some go to one church one sunday and the other the next…

I was told to leave the other behind when I reverted. I know I can go sometimes. But the philosophies are different. We see the same things differently. It has caused lots of strife in my home and I was always fearful of my kids learning the wrong stuff. For a while my dd was listening to other views. then she surprised me and went through confirmation and now believes in reconciliation.

I believe you, but I could not find it, I went to listserv link and also to the aifusa.org/

It is clear that a Catholic does not fulfill their Sunday and Holy Day obligations in a non-Catholic Church. From the DIRECTORY FOR THE APPLICATION OF PRINCIPLES AND NORMS ON ECUMENISM
  1. Since the celebration of the Eucharist on the Lord’s Day is the foundation and centre of the whole liturgical year,120 Catholics—but those of Eastern Churches according to their own Law121—are obliged to attend Mass on that day and on days of precept.122 It is not advisable therefore to organize ecumenical services on Sundays, and it must be remembered that even when Catholics participate in ecumenical services or in services of other Churches and ecclesial Communities, the obligation of participating at Mass on these days remains.
