Welcome here! I’m a recent convert to the Catholic Church (4 years now). Wasn’t a pastor, I’m an engineer.First of all thank you for reading my post…
I just read your blog post “God’s chosen people”. Good stuff. One of the things that shocked me during my inquiry was when I read Chapters 30 and 31 of the Westminster Confession, the parts about how Christ established a government in the hands of Church officers, that it is given to synods and councils to determine matters of the faith and the faithful are bound to submit to those determinations as ordinances of God “if consonant with the word of God.”
It occured to me that controversies of faith are all about “what teaching is consonant with the word of God?” - which means that, if Christ gave it to the Church to determine controversies of faith, then by definition those determinations will be consonant with the word of God.
About that time, the Reformation began to unravel for me.
God’s grace is sufficient for all things.
The peace of Christ be with you.
