Wow! That is an article worth reading! Thanks for posting it.

I think the priest has it right, but I would like to say this: it’s not as bad in all dioceses in the U.S. as it apparently is in his hometown diocese. My bishop and the new priests of our diocese are orthodox.

One thing the laity must do: pray for our priests!
 
I’ve ran into quite a few good articles on that website. Most recently one about the ecumenical advantages of the TLM for reunion with the Eastern Orthodox w/ commentary from Archbishop Burke and Bishop Rifan.

Thank you for posting that article. It was most interesting and I enjoyed reading it immensely.

This man is a good priest. He serves the Universal Church and the Church in America well. God bless that man.

But I found it very interesting that for his official pastoral portrait, he chose to wear liturgical vestments.

Is this common or just decided by the individual priest?

So true, that is a good priest who is telling it like it is.

We have a crisis in our Church and we are at war with ourselves, it is a mess.

It takes a lot of guts to say what he is saying and make yourself the target of those who want to hide the crisis and those who want to continue in their ways. We need more honest, straightforward, brave priests like this who have not been cowed by fear and can make a call to action 🙂 to address the problems we have today, in the liturgy, in our catechism classes and especially in the people of God.

He wrote another good article on abortion a little while back.

I like how you mentioned the crisis in our Catechism classes. It is very true that many Catechism classes, especially for the young, are becoming more and more Protestant by the second. Now, I mean no offence when I say that. I just mean that some of the things they teach in Catechism classes nowadays are just so far from Roman Catholicism.
 
You are right, there is very little to differentiate between a Catechism class in my parish and the Methodist down the street. Vacation Bible School(even worse), it is almost completely devoid of any mention of uniquely Catholic spirituality.

I was going to send my kids to Vacation Bible School at the Methodist Church down the street just because it would be the same thing as my Catholic parish, and it would be entertaining for my kids. My wife wouldn’t let me, (she is more prudent than I am) I have no fear of them becoming Methodist as my kids are extremely firm in their Catholicism, and it would be fun for the, heck some of the Methodists are probably more Catholic than some of the instructors at VBS in my parish.🙂
(We have a buncha Catholic bashers in my parish)
