Its classic.
He/She will only dodge and deflect when asked direct questions. Never give a direct answer.
He/She will deflect by attempting to make it an emotional argument i.e. bringing up “Mob” violence or “Persecution” both yesteryear and perceived persecution of the LDS church today.

He/She never addresses an issue at hand. I dodge ball champ in the “Verbal” sense.

Okay, I will try it again. I don’t even follow all the new testament commandments. I think that you will find my answer in that quotation by why me.
Well, YOU claimed that you tithe because it was a commandment. Then you tried to get cute and said, “it is in the Bible…I donl;t know what to say”

Now you admit you do not follow ALL the commandments. So, you essentially pick and choose.

I see.

Okay, if you say so. 😃
You should study history more, which is a lot to ask since you have little grasp of the History of the Church you supposedly follow.

Like Hitler, BY led a multitude of people down a dark path of evil in the name of progress and in BY’s case righteousness.

Both were charismatic speakers, with evil hearts and even darker intentions. Ulitmately both led to the destruction of many lives. One in the physical sense with the murder of millions of innocents, the other much more sinister in the Spiritual Murder of those who followed his Teachings.

The parallels are stark, they’re relevant, they are scary.

I know a great deal of lds church history. And I also know the history of the national socialist movement in Germany. I have read Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

And thanks for the comparison of hitler and young. Very comparable indeed.

I am just a terrestial person tom, I never said anything more. Tithing is in the bible and it says ten percent. I don’t pay tithing but that is what the bible says. What to do?

I am not an active lds. I attend catholic mass. But I just can’t stand all the negative posts about mormons and mormonism. I just need to defend the mormons. They are not so bad and the lds church is a good church. It works well for my daughters.

Red herring. Notice he does not address the quotes, but deflects to the Catholic Church

How typical.
I know carm. They are critics of catholicism and mormonism. There mission is to discredit both religions and to lead people away from the mormon and catholic faith. This is the site that tom took his post from. I think that it is only honest to post a link to the site that was used.

Should I use that site to attack the catholic church by posting information from that site and lead the charge against the catholic church? I think that I would be reported and shown the door.

Why be rude? As much as I dislike the Mormon religion, I don’t think that gives me license to be rude to them. How is that sharing the love of Christ? How about sharing with us the website like he asked? I’m interested in seeing it as well.

In Christ,
Andrew

It is like I can hear the “Twang” of a ricocheting bullet, you know the ones from the Old West Movies or the Spaghetti Westerns, in the background every time W.M. posts.

The “Twang” of another issue being deflected or ricocheted off topic.

I know. I have been to Mormon Boards where they bash Catholics.

I have also defended Mormons on other boards.

My issues are the whitewashing of history

I found the site and posted it above. It is from carm a protestant organization that is critical of mormonism and catholicism.

carm.org/brigham-young-quotes

And here is a carm video attempting to lead catholics out from their faith:

youtube.com/watch?v=VhK32pKLHFg

Strange that tom chose that site and that is why he perhaps did not want to link it.

Which boards are they? I want to see a mormon board that bashes catholics like catholics bash mormons here. I will go over there and kick some butt. 🙂

They went the way of the Dodo when Microsoft stopped having boards

(Edited)

Bro, he can’t even address your quotes, no matter where they came from (and we know that they ultimately came from the mouth of Brigham Young).

Mormons can’t accept these words of their prophets, yet we wonder if the Mormons of old accepted the words of “The Prophet” in the same way that Mormons today accept the words of Thomas Monson.

Ah, yes Brigham Young one of the more delightful Mormon prophets…Mormons like to forget the first set of quotes…he’s having a wonderful time in the CK with all his earthly wives and others he no doubt has found. He was a polygamist first class and taught it as doctrine…and they named a university after him…how special is that?

It all ends up in what you want to believe. If you want to do it all secretly in your temples go ahead…but it would be nice if the mishies told the all the truth about the religion…of course now anyone can google all the temple ordinances and that alone is enough to stop the majority…except of course those that fall in love with a Mormon…those people learn the hard way…the very painful and heart breaking way what the religion does…but all in all…when each of us finds the religion that is right for us to enter into a communion with God it’s a good thing…when we live the religion every day it’s a wonderful thing…when we take the teachings and do them…not necessarily preach them but do them in our lives everyone benefits…

These are not all BY quotes, but look at how LDS leaders look at the Christian world. Also notice that they consider themselves separate from Christians. Now, as they try to become more mainstream, they try to say they ARE Chrsitians…but do they really?

Journal of Discourses 5:73–“When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was groveling in darkness.”

Journal of Discourses 8:99–“With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world.”

Journal of Discourses 6:25–“What! Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast.”

Orson Pratt (Mormon Apostle)–"…all other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God; and any person who receives baptism of the Lord’s supper from their hands highly offend God, for he looks upon them as the most corrupt of all people" (The Seer, pg 255)

Heber C. Kimball (First Counselor to Brigham Young)–“Christians - those poor, miserable priests Brother Brigham was speaking about - some of them are the biggest whoremasters there are on the earth…” (Journal of Discourses 5:39)
