2 weeks ago I went to my first confession in a few years. Afterwards I still felt guilty about a sin and ended up deciding that I hadn’t confessed it specifically enough and that my confession wasn’t valid. I went back today, and before even giving the context, my confessor seemed doubtful when I confessed having given an invalid confession. After hearing it, he said my confession was valid, and said reconfessing my sins wasn’t necessary. For the sake of my conscience he let me confess the sin bugging me specifically, but altogether he was quite lighthearted and said I was “whipping myself” and being too harsh. Am I approaching this with the wrong attitude thinking he was too easy on me? Thanks

You can always go to another priest. I’ve had a priest tell me my sins weren’t really sins a couple weeks ago. I’ll be looking for a new priest to go to confession with next time. I feel there is enough liberalism running rampant in the church now a days and it is something I definitely don’t want to experience in the confessional!

Absolution is absolute. Your sins were forgiven at your first confession, as long as you did not intentionally conceal them. As you describe it, aa second confession was not needed.
