Yesterday I asked my sister in-law to take me to Mass in Doha, Qatar. It was an interesting experience. The church is called Our Lady of The Rosary which was built by the emir of Qatar in 2005. The church is located on a religious complex which also houses Coptic, Orthodox, Mar Thoma, and Chaldean churches.
Anyway, the church service is best described as having a megachurch feel i.e. pop style music, big screen monitors, stadium seating, etc. One of the communion songs had a very catchy melody with Eurodance beat. I thought I was on the dance floor in Ibiza. I told my in-law that I had never seen this stuff in the United States. He told me that there are other more charismatic services in the smaller chapels on weekend.
