Hmmm…snobbish…channeling hatred…very passive aggressive my friends. Trust me, anything I have said here has been said face to face in an open, friendly, and brotherly debate. Always part as respected members of the congregation. To sit on one’s hands to let the Holy Spirit move in mysterious ways doesn’t negate healthy discussions. No, I’m not a fan of Michael Voris, but sometimes the church of nice does sit on it’s hands.

Peace!

Why do you assume anyone’s post was directed toward you? I know that my post was a statement in general and I believe Cat’s was too. I was actually thinking of my own reaction to a recent happening at our church (different topic) and how my response would have been taken by the “offending” party. Somehow I had a feeling that the topic of “the church of nice” would come up. All I have to say about that is when did “nice” become a dirty word? There is nothing wrong with being nice. I get it that sometimes the Church needs to be firm about what is right and wrong, what is true and false. But it seems that too many people have not gotten the meaning. It is time for the enemies of “the church of nice” to start showing a little more charitableness. I believe there is hope.

That’s the problem with electronic, typed communications. Intention can be misconstrued, and my apologies for jumped conclusions.

Charitableness is indeed needed. Any criticism must be open, transparent, and debated in a brotherly manner. The Church is infallible and without flaw. However, men are sinners (including me). I occasionally require the 2 X 4 to the face to get my attention. The men of faith and servants of Christ should be too. It’s for the good of the Holy Church.

Side note: I was raised Presbyterian, but converted in 1970. After about four years, I strayed. Came back in 2003…and found the Church changed. So different. I’ve embarked up a rediscovery of my Catholic faith. Yes, likes and dislikes are personal preferences and not dogma. I’m working on being less cynical and snippy. Bear with me.
