I never made that argument, I said that ending poverty was a good method of reducing abortions.
It frustrates me that there is this idea out there that together we can band together and, through the government, end poverty. Lots of politicians are selling this idea, and I’m not buying it. The governemt can do a lot to help people who are struggling financially and should! But the government on its own will never end poverty… The issue is more complex than that, and poverty has been around an awful long time.

You don’t think that abortionists mark teens as “below poverty line” when reporting their statistics?
“METHODS: A representative sample of more than 10,000 women obtaining abortions from a stratified probability sample of 100 U.S. providers were surveyed in 2000-2001; survey data are used to examine the demographic characteristics of women who terminate pregnancies. This information, along with other national-level data, is used to estimate abortion rates and ratios for subgroups of women and examine recent changes in these measures.”

It’s just all one big conspiricy to fool people into thinking that abortion is linked with poverty?

Moderator Note:
I’ve edited and deleted a number of posts in this thread.

You may discuss abortion, poverty’s effects on abortion, Catholic solutions to abortion, and how Catholic theology may affect voting choices.

You may not discuss Republican, Democrat, or Third Party platforms, candidates, or voting records. Nor may you discuss any person who is seeking or has sought political office. You may not discuss politics or politicians.

What you may discuss is the Catholic theology concerning abortion, poverty, and voting within the scope of answering the original post. How that applies to specific candidates or parties may not be discussed.

If you do not keep the conversation within the forum guidelines, it will be removed completely and violators will receive infractions.

If poverty is an acceptable “reason” to obtain an abortion …

My question is what happens when the financial status of family changes significantly.

For example: a woman with a child makes 150% of poverty level when the child is born … but then 2 years later falls to 200% beloow the poverty level …

should this parent be able to terminate the childs life because they are in a state of poverty?

Yes or No?

If No, what is different in this scenario than if the mother is at 200% below the poverty level before the child is born?

Poverty is no excuse for taking the life of a child or a person of any age …

Eliminating poverty will not eliminate abortion … s long as we condone the killing of innocent babies in the womb we are all in danger of being the next class that will be dehumanized and found expendable …
