I agree with some of his assertions. Again, however, the post-conciliar popes Ven. John Paul II and HH Bendict XVI, both present at the council (indeed, Pope Benedict was a *peritus) *seem to take a different and more positive view of the Council (though IIRC, Pope Benedict was dubious about some of his fellow peritii). Nonetheless, the state of the Church, at least in the west, has been largely as Mr. Voris says (mind you, the “spirit” of Vatican II and Vatican II are two different things).
 
I would suggest that you review Voris’s statements and facts before “quietly” writing him off.
 
An interesting perspective overall. Good assessment of the Reformation, its effects, and beginning of Modernism.
 
I saw this and I did not wan’t to post the link because there are some here who just dislike Voris, but I really enjoyed and learned from this episode. Amazing what one person does so many years ago and the effects are still with us.
 
I watched it twice. It is very informative, and I learned some things I’d have probably never known about the modernist mindset.
 
I will not give my opinion just yet, however, I hope, wish, and pray, that more people stand up, that become SO bold to take up arms (not literally) against our current situation, and against the abuses the Church has taken over the years.

I do not claim to be a theologian, however you asked for opinions, I gave them to you. I’ll give you more in about an hour.

Also, does anyone know how young this fellow is? I’m happy more young people (including myself) are going back to tradition.

Well, I now have MY opinion of this video.

The video itself was strong, respectful, empowering, and most of all inspiring. I could relate to it as well, he (Voris is his name?) made note of a struggle I have recently been having. I, being a traditional and devout ROMAN Catholic, endure the strong and “enlightened” force known as Atheism in the “Catholic” school I attend. Most of them are Atheists, and they hardly know it. I commonly refer to them as “plastic Catholics” they call themselves Catholic, and maybe wear a sweet little cross around their necks but then disobey the Church at every turn. For example a “Catholic” classmate of mine told me she didn’t need to go to Confession, because all she had to do was Pray, because God heard her. I told her, as much as the former was true, the latter was not. I referred to her to James 5:16 (I may be wrong, and I apologize) and a few other sources within and without the Bible. I sadly, couldn’t sway her.

When I serve Mass at school, I am known as “priest-boy”. Priest-boy, do they not know the name Altar Server? I have been told I cannot wear my own Cassock and Surplice (bought with my own money as my Parish has resorted to the use of Albs). My blood boils when I see some classmates, who I know have committed sins that would make Satan laugh in glee, step into the communion line unrepented. I see so many eyes roll at me when I alone kneel to receive the Blessed Sacrament. Is this the new Church? Have we gotten up from our knees? Prayer is quite exhausting when all I see is the erosian of the Faith in the minds of our youth. When one class mate was confronted by myself about her spreading her heretical views, she responded with, “Its okay, I am young I have time to confess my sins later. I am going through the age of questioning.” I was flabbergasted.

Back on topic, this video has refreshed me as I hope it has done to you. I pray every night (atleast one decade of the rosary to the coronation of Mary - in Latin) for the return of the reverence and respect to the Church.

I also apologize if I stray from the discussion, but does he look like a Kennedy or is it just me?

All I can say Pius, is you are a young Roman Catholic who shows a maturity and understanding of the Faith many adults rarely show.

As far as those you see around you, keep in mind we are all products of the pulpit so to speak. The lukewarm among us simply know no better in many cases. Without strong influences from family and others in our parishes, it’s easy to fall into just going through the motions. All we can do is pray for them and lead by example. And pray for our priests that they may find a renewed fire and begin preaching to save souls.

I think it best to never judge our lukewarm acquaintances for the reasons I mentioned. Once lifestyles and liberal Catholic mindsets become second nature in an individual, it takes something very powerful and moving to bring them out of it and into an orthodox Catholic mindset.

Continue being what you are, a good example to your peers, and grow more strongly in your faith. Somewhere along the way, you will touch hearts and inspire them to become better Catholics.

To put it simply, I understand and thank you. I intend to grow more patient with the Church and most of all with my peers. I also like your choice of word describing them, “lukewarm” it cannot be more accurate. I sadly do not know which chapter this is from or even if it is from the Bible, but all that can come to mind is: “So because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” I may have to look that up and find out, but not now. I know that quote doesn’t fully pertain to this discussion, but it was all that came to mind.

Bl Pope Pius IX, I applaud you in what you do, don’t let anyone change your way in receiving our Lord. If they call you priest boy, be grateful that’s all they call you, I was an altar boy for 10 years and I got picked on and even beaten up at school because of it. What made it worst was that I was still serving when all the abuse scandals came out and that was just fuel for those that made fun of me for serving. I know how you feel about not being able to wear cassock, I had to wear the cheap generic albs for 10 years, but the most important thing is the God chose me to help his priest, and I was closer to God during the mass while serving. Just pray for those that hate you, Christ never said that to be Christian was to be popular.

Another thing about the video, Michael said it very well at the end, and basically V2 is the council of the laity, and the ball is on our court now. So do we pick it up and go for the winning score? Or do we just stand there and do nothing. No doubt that God moves in mysterious ways.
 
After Mass today, a Mass I had been serving, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop while two EM’s were talking about the Roman Missale. I succumbed. I said firmly, “Well, if it was up to me, we would be saying it in Latin” The EM’s froze and were a bit dumbstruck. “I once attended a Latin mass.” one of them began “It was horrible, it was one of the extreme ones where they faced the Altar instead of the Congregation.” well, one I laughed after he said Congregation. Two, I knew then I was provoked. “I would rather the reverence be shown to Jesus Christ than to us.” The EM smiled and began to pretend to do something busy, while the other just smirked and rolled her eyes. “Pax” I said as I left the Sacristy.

I admit I exaggerated a bit in my favor. I am sorry, how can we be the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church if we think that showing more reverence to Jesus Christ is “horrible”?

I think Voris hits the nail on the head - again. I like especially that he places the blame where it’s most deserved - with the bishops & priests.

Nothing to “like” here. Remember - charity at all times.
My view, is that our Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and Popes have been under direct spiritual attack for over a hundred years by none other than satan and his minions - I wonder how long I would have stood up against the continuing onslaught - its simple - its down to faith.

God Bless and keep safe the worlds Pope Benedict XVI, all Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, and religous orders.
