I heard an interesting story from a Catholic Priest on youtube.

There was a man who was gravely ill, and called for his Priest to go see him. The priest wanted to give the man a concecrated host, but had nowhere to put it to protect it during the journey. So he placed it into his bible for safe keeping.

When he got to the man’s house and opened his bible, there were two blood stains in the shape of the host on both pages that came into contact with it.
 
So why would God work a miracle to deprive the sick man of God’s grace?

Is there actually a priest who does not have a way to carry the consecrated host? Someone who’s been a priest for longer than say 20 minutes? Who visits the shut ins and sick?

If you are interested in Eucharistic Miracles I would recommend looking into the Miracle of Lanciano Italy among others. This story doesn’t seem to make much sense, there must be more to the story.

The Priest told a condensed version of the story and even showed pictures of the bible that was stained with blood from the host.
 
I find it difficult to believe that:

a. God would allow a Bible to get bloodstained.
b. The Priest didn’t have a pyx. They are relatively cheap. I’ve seen them as low as $5.
 
This is a variation of an old story which I either heard or read long before there was Youtube and/or the internet.

The book, Eucharistic Miracles by Joan Carrol Cruz (currently available) may be, and most probably is, the source of this story. There is also a video of various Eucharistic miracles.

It was just a book, not a bible.
 
This sounds like a Eucharistic Miracle that I read about some years back though it was no the book referenced above … seems like the authors name was Lord *

Any way; the priest had been struggling with the True Presence … did he believe it or not and was basically in a crisis of faith [and yes, priests do at times struggle with the faith as we all do!]

Well, he stuck the host in a book in a rather uncaring manner, feeling like a fraud, taking a piece of bread to a man who believed in this religious idea that it was the Body of Christ…

When the priest arrived, he found that the Eucharist had actually turned into flesh, leaving a blood stain on the page …

The YouTube video you provide is from Most Holy Family Monastery, which is notoriously sedevacantist. A look at their other videos shows this, i.e. the one about the Heresies of Pope Benedict XVI. I’d take everything they say with a whole shaker of salt.

I would suppose that the Host was still there. Just that there were blood stains on the pages. I could accept that could happen. It does seem strange that if the priest had access to the tabernacle with the Hosts, he would have a purificator available if a pyx was not.

as someone else mentioned this was an actual miracle done by God long ago. Not a recent miracle. It is approved by the vatican. the relics still exist.

A person asked “So why would God work a miracle to deprive the sick man of God’s grace?” I challenged the assumption in this question (which I didn’t consider off-topic, BTW) by asking if God is limited in the ways in which he can impart his grace. So, not off topic at all.

And I could just as rightly claim that we are discussing whether God would deprive a sick man of the Eucharist in order to perform a miracle. There is no denying that it is an interesting question.

Anyway, this is my last post in this thread unless something interesting pops up.

an interesting question for another post. and look up the miracle if you really want to know.
