Has anyone heard of this theory before? In one early article of his newsletter called “Battle Cry”, Jack Chick (a fundamentalist illustrator of small tracts who is well known to make attacks about the Catholic Church and use false sources for those attacks), let some “former priest” named L.H. Lehmann talk about how celibacy was like Nazism. That’s not what intrigued me though. What was interesting was an editorial annotation that said “(Mein Kampf was) ghost-written by a Roman Catholic priest.” I’ve known that Chick has said some ridiculous stuff about the Catholic Church and Hitler but has he ever said that claim anywhere else?

No offence, JustPassingby, but Jack Chick is a liar and complete fraud who’s stories have been thoroughly discredited and debunked.Just check the this article Catholicanswers wrote about him, which elaborates not only his untruths, but exposes Chick’s complete ignorance regarding catholic beliefs. catholic.com/documents/the-nightmare-world-of-jack-t-chick. I wouldn’t take anything he says seriously.

Most christian bookstores refuse to even sell his books and pamphlets anymore, because they are so filled with lies and distortions (not to mention offensive to Catholics, Mainline Protestants, Jews, etc)

So … did Hitler really think and write that celibacy was the ‘strength’ of the Catholic Church ?

Absolute nonsense. Hitler produced Mein Kampf on his own whilst in prison with Rudolf Hess serving as his scribe; and Hess was about as far from being a Priest as one can be.

You know, as a Protestant I must say that Jack Chick is completely offensive to me too, as well as almost every other Protestant (or non-Christian). His tracts are filled with lies, straw-man arguments, and manage to slander practically every religion and viewpoint there is.

Regarding Chick’s claims, he has a habit of using questionable testimonies for his source material. Many of his sources have been thoroughly debunked as frauds, though Chick still publishes the material. One such source was Alberto Rivera, a man who claimed to be an ex-priest and was eventually discredited. I know he was responsible for much of Chick’s anti-catholic views, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the cause of this one.

Jack Chick is so bad even others who are Anti-Catholic stay away from hin. It’s best to just stay away from stuff he writes. :yup:

I’ve heard he still distributes the tract, and there are many fundamentalists who still believe Rivera was an ex-priest.
What did Mark Twain say about lies? A lie can make its way around the world while truth is still putting its pants on.

Yes, he does. I started a thread recently about them. I went to a restaurant to pick up lunch. When I got to the register they had a display rack of Chick Tracts. I was shocked. I hadn’t seen any in over 30 years.

I was honestly surprised today on the internet (hard to believe but it still happens). I wanted to see if he did, in fact, still distribute those particular tracts, and found it was being promoted in the main section on his main webpage alongside an attack on Pope Francis. I guess I should have half-expected it. I don’t know whether I should laugh at the awfulness, get angry at the injustice, or apologize. It’s just shameful.

I’m generally pretty accepting of any denomination or method that leads people to Christ, provided it’s done with honesty, respect, love, etc. But Chick’s methods are just awful. I know he leads people to Christ, but for every single person he converts, I have to imagine there’s hundreds that are turned off of Christianity forever. I feel what offends people most is his blatant disregard for truth - believing only what he wants to believe while disregarding everything outside of his worldview. If there’s any good to come from his actions, I feel it’s to teach people how not to practice one’s faith.

Not to derail the thread, but I’ve thought about this since the election of Pope Francis. Because our new Pope is Jesuit, I wonder if Jack’s head exploded since everything within the Catholic Church is run by Jesuits, and everything bad that’s ever happened on our planet is somehow the Jesuits’ fault.

He’s 88. I wonderful how involved he is with the company these days. I wonder who’s running things.
