Last night I was at my parish church, listening to the priest give a lecture on Mother Teresa, Edith Stein, and Therese of Lisieux. It was a great lecture. The lecture was given physically in the church. I sat in the second to front pew. Now, there has been something on my mind involving my personal life. I am also discerning the priesthood, and the plan is to enter seminary right after high school. I have had a meeting with the vocation director. Last night, though, while sitting I set my gaze upon the tabernacle, not really thinking, just kind of resting in its glory. While I was resting, I heard something to the effect of “Bryce, stop obsessing over it. You know that it is not true.” I was shocked. I had never had an experience like that, where I heard a voice. Please give your thoughts.

My thoughts are: Stop obsessing over whatever it is you are obsessing over. Whether it’s a locution or not, obsession is not good. So it seems that in some way, either by locution or your own good conscience that the Lord gave you, God somehow spoke to you.

I should rephrase my sentence. I was more or less worried about something very much.

The advice still stands. Worry is a sin. It means you don’t trust God and haven’t put the problem into His hands. You still want control. It’s ok to be concerned about something, but when it crosses over into worry and obsession, it is a problem. The answer is prayer and trust in God. Let go of the problem. I realize that is not easy and one must be persistent.

I believe God is speaking to you in some way to let Him take care of it, from what you have written. Whether it was a locution, I don’t know. You “heard” it, so to speak, I didn’t. 🙂

Anyway, that’s my 2 cents since you wanted feedback. 🙂

Do you know it’s not true what ever you were worried about? God can only speak the truth.

Curious.
