assuming that you can do it, and that the persons involved are honest, do you have to help people you meet on the internet?

Under what conditions should you help such strangers?

There are a lot of scams out there. I would not give anyone on the internet money no matter how compelling their story sounded if that is what you are asking, not on just their word that they are honest.

We’ll I am evangelical christian who has been walking with Christ for almost 40 years. I visit and fellowship with fellow believers(catholic, orthodox, protestant) in various forums.
You definitely need to be in prayer as you feel the Holy Spirit’s prompts. I don’t earn a lot but I have helped meet needs with the last two being catholic. I’ll usually pm someone who has been a member for awhile(someone I sense to be pretty mature) and ask information. You really need to be hearing from the Lord as there is a lot of deception out there. Don’t rush with anything either as if it is the Lord prompting you He will direct the timing…What helps is the last two people had paypal…God bless you. may the Lord guide and guard you…

The one catholic mother I helped was just blown away “asked me how I could possibly know”. I just said listen to the Spirit…

If money is involved, no. I was scammed this yearby a woman looking for funds to help pay the cost of a child’s funeral. She made a good story and played not only me but many other “friends” come to find out she was using the photo’s and name of another woman. She won internet contests in modeling under this fake name. The real woman swears she never heard of this until a few days before the story broke that the imposter was using her images. The imposter had been doing this for over a year. I still have serious questions about who all knew, when they knew and where the money went after everything came crashing down.

If it’s spiritual advice or advice about life , offer what you can and pray for them. Taht’s about all any of us can do is to help those around us as best we can.

If you have ONLY met them on the Internet, how do you KNOW they are honest? Direct them to charitable organizations in their area. That is the safest way. It also protects you.

There are scams out there all the time. Just this morning there was a warning on our local news to be wary of emails with deals on known online retailers, because the deals are not really coming from online retailers, but instead from scammers who are only looking for your credit card info. They have copied the logos and such, so it looks real, but by hovering your mouse over the hyperlink, only then can you see the real address.

And then there is the poor fella from Nigeria who died, leaving all that money, but who has no family, and they want to give it to me. ME! Can you believe it!

And the faithful Christian man who died whose family is horrible, so the money was directed to go to another faithful Christian, who it seems is me.

And I have apparently won the lottery, which I never even knew I entered! Wow!

I even got a check in the mail, but they sent me too much by accident, so I have to cash it and send them the overage back.

Be careful and use common sense.

I have been scammed for thousands of dollars online. Be very careful in all situations you encounter online, no matter how honest they appear.

You simply pray for them.
