Last night I read Bishop Olmstead’s exhortation Into The Breach, about what real masculinity means and the crisis of it in today’s world. It’s a bit lengthier than your average online read, but I recommend it if you have the time.

The thing is, it is an article geared toward men, and what they can do. But as a woman reading it and so strongly agreeing with what the Bishop had to say, I’m left wondering what I (as a wife and mother, but also all women) can do to help with today’s masculinity crisis.

Also, as a side note, if anyone has recommended reading of a similar sort that discusses biblical *femininity *(I’m not talking about Proverbs 31 advice to gather flax and give your servants jobs), I’d love to hear more about that as well.

Wow that’s long. Looks like I’ll be busy during my down times at work tomorrow. No way I’m getting through it before I fall asleep tonight!

Johnette Benkovic has a complete Bible study that focuses on true femininity; using examples and teachings from Sacred Scripture, Church documents, and examples of holy women throughout the ages- from Biblical heroines to saints and blesseds in our era such as Saint Gianna Molla and Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. I also believe her website and blog cover this topic quite frequently if you were looking just for articles rather than a book or comprehensive study.

I hope that you find that helpful 🙂

Slowly making my way through Into the Breach and thoroughly enjoying it. I’m having significant marital problems right now and this is helping slightly, I hope it will do more.
