They didn’t do a very good job. I think that’s more to gratify Muslims than to convince anybody.

It’s a rehash of a bunch of Muslim arguments that have floated around the internet for years and have been refuted by every Christian apologist and their mother (although the “Paul didn’t believe Jesus was God” is a nice change from the usual “Paul was a promoter of shirk” argument). The Deen Show did something like this with “10 Reasons Why Jesus Christ Isn’t God,” which I did a response to on my blog.

As ljubim said, it’s most likely more about “preaching to the choir” than convincing people on the other side.

It’s not that good. The problem with most Muslim-Christian dialogue regarding Jesus as depicted in the New Testament is that both sides tend to only look for what supports their religion’s position and ignore what doesn’t. So Muslims quote verses from the New Testament that make Jesus being God impossible, and ignore ones which say or strongly imply that he was God. Likewise Christians quote verses from the New Testament which say or strongly imply that Jesus was God, but ignore that ones that say he wasn’t. The truth is that the New Testament is simply an incoherent and inconsistant work, so whatever quote anyone finds that apparently proves something either way, someone will just as easily find a quote which contradicts it.

All this site is is the rehashing of old arguments. From the arguments and claims I’ve heard from muslims about Jesus, I’ve heard: 1) He was a wise prophet, but not god.
2) the gospels were rewritten.3) Jesus wasn’t crucified. To attest to the authenticity of the gospels, we look to the writings of the early church fathers, which show us what the 1st century Christians believed. These men were the disciples of the Apostles themselves, who were the writers of the Gospels. This info clearly shows the writers of the gospels preached what we read today. To show that Jesus was indeed crucified, we can look to roman documentation. The ancient romans recorded this information, which modern archaeologists have discovered. Christ was indeed crucified and the gospels weren’t changed.

Can you cite? I’d be interested in reading it 🙂

Tacitus (A.D. c.55-A.D. c.117, Roman historian) mentions “Christus” who is Jesus - Annals 15.44

  1. ]“Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular.”*

I’ll attempt to find some. I saw this info on the discovery channel a while ago. Even without this, by looking at the early church fathers and listening to the things they said (which were the things the apostles taught) we can know that Christ was crucified. I’ll try to find some info anyways though.

    1. beat me to it. 👍

“In the Beginning was the Word…and the Word was made flesh…”: prelude to St. Johns Gospel. "........before Abraham was, I AM." : John 8:58. Its a pity that most Trinitarians seem to forget that Jesus Christ is both fully God AND fully Man. We can argue for BOTH of His natures, and still feel comfortable.
We should also keep in mind that the Son is generated by the Father; the Image of the Father, His Selfknowledge …explains a few more Scripture texts.

welcome! the guy who made it makes very good, high-quality videos. he’s a very nice fellow, and a former Muslim, too.

The problem is that in Islam this distinction is not found. Depending on the argument or point being made, Christ is either a created god (Arianism), a man given the Word by God (Nestorianism), just a man (Ebionism), or just God (some elements of Gnosticism). This is why common Muslim questions to Christ include “Why did God have to make another god?” or “How can God die?” The hypostatic union is not even entertained in the Quran, and not taught in mosques or by Muslim apologists.

In addition to my last post:
The truth is that the New Testament is simply an incoherent and inconsistant work, so whatever quote anyone finds that apparently proves something either way, someone will just as easily find a quote which contradicts it.
Then how will God’s mercy work, and how are some among the People of the Book receive it?

“…With My punishment I visit whom I will; but My mercy extendeth to all things. That (mercy) I shall ordain for those who do right, and practise regular charity, and those who believe in Our signs;- Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel…” [S. 7:156-157; Yusuf Ali]

Say: “O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.” It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith. [S. 5:68; Yusuf Ali]

If the Gospel is a “an incoherent and inconsistant work,” then how are the People of the Book, especially Christians, to find Mohammad within it, or find guidance, as per Allah’s orders?

It could be because you no not believe that you are not given understanding. What the muslim misses is the identity as man was critical for His plan of redemption the question is who was He before He became man and who is He now. If you were open to the truth and had a basic understanding of the Bible I could demonstrate to you that the Bible in fact proves that they are one.
