The truth is superior to a clouded truth. The cross answers all of those questions.
I don’t doubt that, and yet Christianity makes little headway in India despite hundreds of years of contact with Christians (I think 2% of India’s population is Christian). Why should this be if Christianity’s superiority is so obvious even to non-Christians?

You know what I mean. That was a horrible thing you said to her. You should know better than that. :tsktsk:
I wasn’t aiming for horible either. Muslim Woman does not accept the Christian version of what Trinity means to a Christian because she is Muslim and Muslims simply only accept what the Quran states is Christian belief. It aint the same thing.

Hinduism is so flexible that you can either believe in one god with many manifestations or many different gods.

But youre right Blade I’ll try and be more charitable in future. 😊 Peace

hey , I just wanted to help a Christian 🙂

Like Christians , Hindus also believe that God can come in to this world as human . Most probably they also believe human form of God can die . At least , they have 3 in 1 God concept. So , it’s easy for a Christian to communicate with a Hindu about Trinity .
Nice to see you trying to help a Christian out. Hope that doesnt make you guilty of trying to spread a false belief which will lead to shirk. 🤷

Have a blessed day Muslim Woman. Peace

Christians are people of the holy book . So, I will be very happy if a Hindu becomes a Christian 🙂

Have a blessed life in this world & hereafter , Amen.

Hi folks,

I have a friend who is a Brahman Hindu but is somewhat interested in Catholicism, and I’m looking for some tips/pointers/advice on how I can slowly introduce him to our faith without scaring him off. I don’t know a thing about Hinduism, except that the cow is holy, so I guess I’m lucky it’s a Friday in Lent 😛

If only i got a nickle everytime i gave this advice. 😃 I am a Brahmin convert to Catholicism. Go easy on your friend. Do not be imposing, but steadily introduce him to the Church; starting with the basics: The rosary, communion of saints and the Eucharist. As Blade and Blood suggested, it would also help if you studied on Brahminism (not Hinduism - there is alot of difference as you will find out later). Take notes of your study in Brahminism and compare similarities with Catholicism or even Judaism. Relate them to him only when he asks questions about the Church. Better yet, ask him to join this forum and myself and the others here can help him with his journey. 🙂

Just a few words to the above good and practical suggestions - ’ The Everlasting Man ’ by G.K Chesterton , if I remember right, gives a good and concise approach to the diffrences between the faiths and hope there are others - The Word itself can be the best , when read with prayerful discernment - the friend migt even appreciate the suggestion to read the The Word in the Eucharistic presence .

Catholicism requires a good degree of faith and trust in and from a personal relationship with an all holy and loving God , whose love and goodness alone is the reason for the incarnation and where personal suffering, when accepted and surrenderd /united to The One who sufferred in the power of love , to give strenght and hope to His children from the trust they can palce in Him can even bring joy in sufferings ; hindu mythologies may be come close , yet often errr and thus makes it may be more confusing unless one can use the latter to discern the errors and lies and thus to uphold and appreciate the real TRUTH .

As to the reasons why most of India is still hindu, unsure as to the main reasons - one word that comes to mind is - ’ the light came into the world but men preferred darkness ’ ; faiths that seem to give the appearance of control to man , that ’ good works’ alone would merit heaven automatically , may be gives the false sense of autonomy without the difficult process of conversion to a good , loving , forgiving heart that recognise man’s sinfulness and nothingness at one level, yet man’s supreme role and worth, as a child of God who has the need to accept that role from His mercy . True , hinduism , to the best of my limited knowldge of it , does hint at some of these -yet does not bring out the truth of the total , selfgiving Father love which is the truth revealed in our Lord .

The reason for the lack of conversions might even have something to do with the errors of the( hindu) cast mentality that crept into the Church in earlier times and sort of either did not encourage or even discouraged conversion of the ’ lower casts ’ - for there was a time in the not distant past, when many Christian households had sizable #s persons who worked as field hands and such ( similar to the negligence in not actvely taking efforts to convert persons of similar backgrounds in U.S .!)

Similarly, while the church did do much to educate persons of all backgrounds , to help them to earn a living, unsure if similar zeal was given to give them the real truth that would have affected them at far reaching realms !

Interestingly,as far as I know, it was with the coming of the Latin missionaries that the missionary role of the SyroMalbar Church got a real boost and since then she has done admiringly well - to have become a vibrant missionary Church.

May God have mercy , esp. as the Church in India faces increasing restrictions on conversions and baptisms .

May the yearning to see The Face of The Father that stirs in every heart be richly fulfilled , by The Church that alonce can do the same to the best !

Of Course ; that’s why God sent Prophets (peace be upon them all ) to each nation. So that all can know God is one without partner & no other diety deserves to be worshipped.

Some Prophets were blessed with holy books & they are mentioned by names in holy Quran such as Moses , David , Jesus (peace be upon them). Specially Jews & Christians are described in Quran as people of the holy books. Surely God sent someone to Hindus also but all names are not mentioned.

you mean , I should start praying for you so that you become a Muslim ? 🙂

As an addendum to the previous post, thought these few additions too would help.

Theabove apaprition as well as other Church approved apparitions too can help to depict the diffrences , to enhance the faith and to see how God stays involved in affairs big and small , esp.through His Church , His visible Kingdom on earth ;could also help to note the diffrences and errors ; in the above , stars SERVE to bring out God’s truth to His children , not the children being in a fearful servile mode to those animal /star powers .

Another major diffrence that has come to attention is too how we in The Church are advised to always turn to The Father and His strenght , in our struggles against evil and not adopt the tactic of appeasement ; after all, our Lord came to defeat the powers of the evil one and every Liturgy gloriuosly celebrate this victory, in REAL union with ALL of heaven and continue to thwart the destrucive powers that get called down by those in ignorance or malice .

Tomorrow is April Fool’s Day - and unsure if the following is foolishness on my part or a small example of someone having fallen for the ploys of the deciever unawares ; it is a hindu prayer that seems to be getting more adopted by even ’ tradition loving ’ ones these days in the Church and it goes ’ Asathoma , satyam gamaya ’ - meaning from error / lie to truth; problem though is , when said atleast in its Malayalam native tongue, it becomes almost like invoking the evil one - even if the intent is to ask for help to see the truth ! And not only that , it can even sound almost like a disrespetful term for Apostle Thomas !

One has to wonder if such errors that have crept in is somehow letting the Living Waters to be lost through broken cisterns and hence more children being left in darkness !

May His mercy help all believers to intercede for and to bring His Light to more hearts !

I do bellieve God loves all peoples but he specifically chose only one person (Abraham) to send his messages (thru the prophets) to the human race as a whole and reveal Himself as Jesus Christ, God Incarnate. So no I dont believe God sent a prophet to reveal Himself to the Hindu faithful. God’s message cannot be contradictory after all.

If you understood that God Himself in the Person of Jesus came Himself as the Last Prophet you would accept that Jesus is the final and complete Word and no other prophet will come after him as He told in the NT.
you mean , I should start praying for you so that you become a Muslim ? 🙂
But I understand that you do not accept Jesus as God. And because I do I cannot accept Mohammad as a prophet of God as he preached an entirely different message which to Christians is blasphemous. So if your concern is for my eternal salvation that you would pray for my conversion to Islam than I thank you but it is not necessary :). Pls pray instead that I may be less judgemental and more chariable to those that do claim Jesus is other than who He said He Is. “My Lord and my God” :D.

God bless
