Introduction book to philosophy

While I’ve read many philosophical works, I still haven’t read any articulations of the fundamental principles of philosophy. Does anyone know of any good basic introduction books?

My favourite introduction is “Introduction to Philosophy” by Jaques Maritain.
It introduces the fundamental disciplines within Philosophy from a Thomistic POV, and gives some history as well. We used it quite a bit in my first yr of Philosophy

One I’ve read that gives a good introduction is “The Last Superstition” by Edward Feser. It starts out giving some basics from the Greek Philosophers then the Scholastics like Aquinas and then critiques modern philosophy.

Thanks for your help. I’ve ordered Jacques Maritain’s “Introduction to Philosophy.” It should arrive on Wednesday.

One way would to start looking at the history of philosophy. I really like the “History of Western Philosophy” by Bertrand Russell. I do not always agree with his thinking but it is still a darn good book. Before you buy it you might want to read some of the positive and negative reviews on Amazon.com to see if you are willing to deal with it.
