I am fine with not being able to receive Communion at the Catholic church I attend. I am not looking to convert to Catholicism. Thanks for your prayers.
Now, I am going to blunt, please excuse this. Why would a women not want to share the same faith as her husband? Why would anyone shy away from the Truth? There are but two things that divide the body of Christ, ignorance and arrogance. I asked you to go to the source of Truth and draw from that well and be united more fully to Christ, the Church and your own husband. You have opted to remain as you are.

Mark 8:24

24 And he looked up and said, “I see men; but they look like trees, walking.”

Revelation 3:15-16

15 "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot!
16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.

I’m going to be blunt, because when I see exchanges like this approach that you are taking with this poster. I just think that it is not the best way to evangelize someone to come into the church. I think it makes you look proud and pushy. She has given you her answer, Respect her answer, let it go. At this time quietly and respectfully pray for her.

Thank you, Millie123. I really appreciate it! The more people say I should convert, is all the more that I don’t want to convert. Like anything, if and when someone is ready, they will do whatever it is they are looking to do (get married, convert, etc.)

Meant to quote Millie123’s 0post and not Godconvertedme’s post, but can no longer edit my post.

Many posts here have suggested reading this book, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain. I’m only a couple chapters into this book and it’s been a huge blessing. Thank you to everyone that has suggested it.
I added the book to my cart on Amazon. Do you think it would be helpful for a 19 year old college student?

She is struggling to meet people while living in a dorm. I’m doing my best to help her via text and phone. I thought maybe I could read it for a few pointers.

I haven’t read the book yet, though it is in my reading list. I can’t see how it would hurt for the 19 year old to read it. There is always something new to learn.

She is overloaded with homework right now. I was thinking of reading it first and offering her some support and ideas from the book. Maybe then she can read it over Christmas break.

Sounds like a good idea.

Regarding being introverted, for a large part of my life I was labelled and criticised for being quiet. I also had it drummed into me that I should socialise and try harder to make friends.

Once I decided to stop worrying about these things, I actually found myself easier around people. As I get older I find I can make small talk and chat to people I don’t know. However, I still, like a lot posters here have expressed, feel drained by too much socialisation.

When health allows, I do relief work (on a casual, as and when required basis), supporting adults who have learning disabilities, and get on fine. In my free time, however, I need lots of time alone or just with my husband, and have no qualms about this. So often we can be made to feel that we have to be a certain way to be acceptable.

I just wanted to add that however minimal our social interactions, we can always be kind and caring… by smiling, listening, showing interest in another person, praying for them.

Extroverts, introverts, and those in between, we all have our own unique gifts and something to offer.

This is old thread but an interesting discussion for me as a fellow introvert. It is something I have been thinking about lately.
As a fellow introvert, I want to “fourth” the recommendation for Quiet Power.
And I keep seeing this book recommended so I will probably have to read it now. Another book I recommend on this issue that was powerful for me and helped to understand myself and others better I read over 12 years ago, and, is called “Please Understand Me”, and also “Please Understand Me II”, by David Keirsey, etc.

Hi, I’m an introvert too. I can interact with people at work and socially, and then I need some time to recharge my batteries. I live alone with a cat and this works for me.

The Myers Briggs test really helped me to understand myself. I have taken it 3 times and each time have scored INFJ (Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, Judging). According to the results, only 1 percent of the population are INFJs.

I was a teacher for a while at a community college and enjoyed that. I taught 3 classes and worked several days a week.

I suggest you check out the book Do What You Are which gives suggestions on finding work that fits your personality.
I consider myself to be an INTP. However, when I took the test I was right on the line between INFP and INTP. So I see traits of both in me. The problem with the test for me is that I am smart enough to see how each question moves you to one personality type or the other. So i could control the outcome if i wanted.

This is an interesting description of the 16 types. Its a good idea to take the test to see where you fit in. I found it helpful in determining what kind of career I might be good at.

I myself am an introvert. I never want to get married or have kids.

Yay! I’m INFJ too:D

Those things are not necessarily related. I’m definitely an introvert but I am happily married with kids.

(According to Myers-Briggs I too am INFJ. I think we might get over-represented on the Internet. ;))

Get the solitude you need but do not become self absorbed. God put us on a planet together, in community.
Being introverted does mean someone is selfish. I am by no means shy. However constant interaction with people exhausts me. I feel like a rag that’s been through the wringer. Being an introvert means you get your emotional energy from within yourself and being an extrovert means you get your energy from others. It is has nothing to do with being shy or being anti-social or being self-centered.

I think you mean doesn’t mean they are selfish. 🙂 sure we are all selfish though to some degree, both introverts and extraverts. Being extravert hardly makes you a saint. If extraverts get their energy from others then couldn’t they turn into blood sucking leeches? 😃 ok, that was a joke!

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see the personality types as locked in, but as tendencies. We tend to be certain ways more than not. Its not that we are incapable of doing it differently. For instance as an intuitive thinker that doesn’t mean I am incapable of concrete thinking. It’s just that my interest tends to be more intuitive. I also like cars, camping and photography. So I don’t just think in the abstract. I think that is probably the case with concrete thinkers as well. They probably do on occasion think intuitively and abstractly, but they tend to be focused more on the here and now world around them.

Oops, yes you are right.
