Invalid Marriage - Attend or Not Attend

Hello, I am new to this forum.

After reading these answers, I think the best thing would be for each person in this situation to go to their priest and explain all of the details, and then have the priest give advice as to what to do.

I think it is counterproductive to get caught up in all of this. We are not priests.

SOme of the posters here are priests. Some are also experts at Canon Law.

The crux of the issue in this thread (an old thread it is) is obedience to church teaching. The church has put it in ink for us faithful to read that attending a non Catholic sanctioned wedding of Catholics is forbidden. Case closed. Everything else is just opinion of the church’s authority on the matter.

Evidently some do not think the church has authority.
