Hi

Can someone tell me if it is necessary to say the Invitation to Communion response out loud in order to receive communion?

(or any other prayers out loud during mass etc.)

Thank you

As long as you are saying them, I think it’s okay. Although it would probably be a bit more respectful for you to say them out loud, since not doing so seems a bit lazy. Hope this helped 😉

Thanks. It all seems to focus on the act of speaking - so wasn’t certain of the significance.

Are you asking whether it’s necessary to vocalize the response (i.e., you’re praying it silently), or are you asking whether it’s OK to defer to respond in any way?

Mainly asking about vocalization.

At confession we say the Act of Contrition out loud. So I’m just curious. Thank you.

No it is not.

The only things necessary to receive Communion are that you have made a recent confession / are in the state of grace, and that you have observed the Eucharistic Fast.

Anything else is optional, not mandatory.
