Greetings All,
I am new to the forum, so forgive me if this has already been discussed.
I wanted to invite everyone to discuss the Tridentine Mass.
I personally cling to the Tridentine Use, and have found so much consolation and refreshment in it that I am never going back.
No annoying music, no lay people parading around in the sanctuary, no communion in the hand, no arbitrary additions to the Ordinary, no modernistic church architecture, no heretical sermons, no ugly tapestry, no wine glass chalices, no personally baked altar bread, no bad translations, no baptismal tubs, no lay sermons, no (extra) Ordinary Eucharistic ministers, no…okay ill stop.
Are you fed up with these abuses?? Then go Traditional!!
I have found the living Christ in the Tridentine Mass!!!
If you don’t have one near you, request it from your bishop!!
Please, add your thoughts!!

I am also “New” to the site. I am also “New” to the Tridentine Mass.
I can say if it were not for this “Indult” Mass. I,in all probability, Would just stop going to Church Period. I know that shows a weak Faith but that’s where I am spiritually. I feel so close to God at the Tridentine Mass.So Blessed,Uplifted, even sanctified. Other Parishes here in my City are truly Apalling (Liturgicaly) Really good sincere people but just short bland insipid services. Punctuated by some really “Over the top” performances

Beware, How you Express your love for the TLM on this site. You are sure to be Misunderstood. I joined this Site because I was tired of being “bashed” by Non catholics on other Religion sites.
I find some pretty polarized folks here as well. It all makes that idea of “throwing in the towel” seem more attractive.
I would love to talk about the TLM with someone, without being branded SSPX ,Sede-Vacantist ,Thucite, Reactionary. Those battles were before my time. I might add, I have not been the most charitable person myself.

Lux,
I noticed many people bitterly complaining about liturgical abuse in the Novus Ordo here, and I also noticed a number of other traditionalists here. That is why I decided to post.
What sort of problems have you experienced here specifically?
I don’t care about being branded or attacked. I look at it as a blessing from the Almighty…not to mention a penance for my many grevious sins. But thank you kindly for the warning.
Pray very hard, and in a traditional manner!! Our world is in desperate of the Traditional Catholic Faith.
May God grant you the blessing of a vibrant faith.

I would recommend you search a few of the threads in the Liturgy section. One thing you will find is that this has been debated at length. It might help to avoid pitfall by learning from others.

I am happy to see any enthusiastic Catholic, but be careful not to make an invitation sound like you are trying to convert Catholics here to be Catholics there.

usque,
Greeting in the wonderful and most Holy Name of Jesus!
Before which every knee shall bow.
you are right there are many people complaining about abuses in the Novus Ordo. and some traditionalists so I thought this was the site for me. As I stated earlier, other religion sites I have visited are overrun with radical fundies. Who I think, must have drank down anti-catholicism with their Mothers milk.

so far this has been my “limited” experience here.
If you use the term “Novus Ordo” which I thought was perfectly okay. someone is sure to take you to task.

If you say the Tridentine Mass is Theocentric,(which it most certainly is) You will probably be labeled SSPX

If you attempt to objectively compare the TLM to the NO
Then you will be called “reactionary”

I attempted to refute certain, blanket and cliched assumptions about the TLM, being made by someone from another Rite. By suggesting a certain scholarly work. (perhaps uncharitably on my part) Then wondered “aloud” why a catholic from another rite even cared about the historic origins of the Latin rite. (Big mistake)

Finally, and perhaps most farcical of all, another poster kept coming at me, Because I described A lifelong Family Friend in my post as an “African American Lady” So who knows!
I became angry and snapped!

Do you have A daily/weekly TLM in your Parish? Would love to hear more about it.

Pnewton,

I noticed right away that there are many anguishing Catholics here (the posts on liturgical abuse are very numerous) and I merely try to posit a solution to them and open up a discussion on the issue. I too anguished over liturgical abuse for many years until I was brought to the TLM. The fact is that many Catholics are longing for the Tridentine Mass. They just don’t know about it or aren’t able to get to it. So if by advertizing, I can offer impetus for them to look from over “there” to “here” where they might be much happier, I don’t really see that as a problem. The TLM is an approved Use in the Roman Catholic Church.

Lux,

I just noticed how you were getting fried in another forum. I am sorry to see that.

Yes, the TLM is offered weekly in my diocese (bout half an hour away}, and about an hour and a half away it is offered every single day, sometimes twice or thrice daily, praise the LORD!! I do go to the local Novus Ordo’s every now and again, but much of the architecture in my area is horrible!!! So I prefer to rest in far away Tridentine parishes.
You know, we REALLY need our own Tridentine Forum. We will be outcasts untill we make our own Forum. I couldn’t find one.

Usque,
I am Blessed with the TLM Weekly, 4 blocks from my Home. Less than a 5 minute walk away. It is the principal Mass offered on Sundays, and Holy Days. Our monsignor teaches at the Seminary here. So He brings the seminarians to serve the Mass. It is always a Solemn Sung High Mass, with the ordained seminarians serving as Deacon and Subdeacon, master of ceremony, and acolytes. Our choir does the plainchant beautifully, interspersed with sacred polyphony.

Our archbishop, recently said the first TLM in our cathedral here since vatican II, He has been most supportive,as was his predecessor, for which we daily give thanks to God.
I sometime attend the NO on the weekdays in my Parish. It is done very reverently. Our pastor says both masses “ad orientam”

I know the thread you are referring to, the one where that poor old Man from Australia took me to task.
Kinda funny, It seems he sees the SSPX everywhere

Wow!
Praise the Risen Lord! You are extremely lucky.
My bishop allows the Mass only once every Sunday. And he has never celebrated it personally as far as I know. My diocese can be described as very liberal. And there are some very serious abuses here. The worst I have heard is raisin cakes instead of unleavened bread. The worst I have actually experienced is molasses laden baked bread instead of unleavened bread. The latter is from the church just down the block which I refuse to go to now. Yes indeedy as far as I understand the masses are sometimes invalid.

The Novus Ordo I usually attend is also done very reverently. With much of the external traditions of the TLM. And it is sometimes done “ad orientem” or more technically “ad altare” (I dunno if the church actually faces east or not)

or should I say “ad Christi”??!! that is, toward the tabernacle!

Although I am a recent addition to this forum, welcome aboard usqueadmortem.

I walked away from the church for many years over the abuses of the Mass. It was only when I found the TLM being said that I came back. I can now feel like I am not participating in some grand experiment that may or may not be proper.

Don’t worry about people that get upset over the TLM. I don’t really understand the people that think the TLM shouldn’t be allowed, but whatever floats their boat doesn’t affect me.
