Hi Jakasaki: I didn’t go, because we had tornadoes rip through our state the day before, so I was busy all day bringing generator fuel and water to my son’s house, which was one of the few homes in his neighborhood left in tact. Three children were killed by the tornado in the neighborhood next to his, so you can imagine it was a really bad scene there. The same tornado missed my neighborhood by just under a mile 15 or 20 minutes before. Maybe next year!

I will be attending Catholic services with friends on Easter.

I don’t know much about the JW’s but they came to my door and invited me to their Easter service. I told them I was an active Catholic and they told me to have a Happy Easter and left. I have to hand it to them, at least they are out there evangalizing. Us Catholics need to to a better job in this area. In my area we just had ‘Welcom Home Catholics’ which in my opinion was a big flop. We still have stupid rules like ‘if you are not a parishner you can’t get married here’. My daughter lives in Boston but got married here, our pastor told her she could not get married in our church since she was not a member. Yet he went to Hawaii to marry another parishner’s daughter because the brides mother paid for his trip. What a hypocrite.

Back to the subject, if you want to go to a JW event and are prepared for them go. I don’t think they are going to convert you in a day.

First, glad that you and your family is safe…

Second… sorry to hear about your sons neighbors - very sad indeed

Third… I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Catholic Easter service…

Best regards, ❤️
Pam

The resurrection has nothing to do with Jesus’ divinity…JW’s do believe in the resurrection…just not a bodily resurrection. They do not celebrate Easter or Christmas not because they deny the divinity of Christ…but because these days have “roots” in pagan religious practice. Easter is also a celebration of spring…and the “trappings” of bunnies, eggs and the like hail to goddess worship of some fertility cults…same with Christmas…it coincides with the Saturnailia…“Santa” as a jolly old elf, Xmas trees, presents all have been adopted from paganism…the holy days of the Old Religions have been “Christianized” into the New Religion and now given “Christian” meanings.

If a witness is to be presented about other faith traditions…it would serve us well to “get it right” when discussing what other’s believe.
Publisher, is it Quakers or JW’s who drop the names of the days of the week due to the connection to paganism?

Sufjon, I’m glad you and your family are safe from those terrible tornadoes I saw on the news. For the record, I would have counseled you to attend the JW service since I know you’re not one to be persuaded so easily due to your solid knowledge and conviction about your own faith.

Hi Meltserboy: Thanks to both you and Jakasaki for your kind words. That was a scary experience. I’ll probably attend at some point. They used to come by my house all the time and I would listen to them. They just stopped coming at some point, but they knew they were always welcome.
