This is a complicated situation: my mother’s cousin has been like a sister to her and she stays in our home every time she’s in town. This cousin has recently found her lost half-sister who is a Wiccan (or witch, I don’t remember). My mother has no quips about allowing her into her home, but I’m worried that she could bring evil influences with her. How should I approach this situation? I can’t stop her from coming, so should I be worried?

Firstly, a wiccan is a witch but a witch is not necessarily wiccan.

Wiccan are primarily concerned with good magic and the like. They don’t tend to deal in curses or anything like that. Just pray and God will watch over you.

But there really is no such thing as “good magic”. I’m afraid her false beliefs in something diabolical could open the door for evil to enter our house.

Most of it is the extent of a nice cup of chamomile tea. I say good magic as it is important that they’re not seeking evil spirits, they’re just like any non-Abrahamic faith.

So its just as dangerous as inviting a Hindu or theistic Buddhist in. The name often spooks people.

Can’t you just ask her not to do any magic while staying in your house?

If you’re respectful about it I’m sure she will oblige.

She won’t be staying here, she’ll just be visiting during the day.

I don´t believe in Wicca. It´s a new age, nonsense-based club for people with love for the esoteric - I don´t know why anyone should be worried. She´s not doing “magic”, even if she thinks so.

I would stay as far away as possible and I would not invite her into my home if I knew. If there was any chance of evil staying around after she leaves I wouldn’t do it. I would not create even a slight opening for evil to enter into my home. Ask a priest. I’m only a girl who reads and does research. There are some prayers you can say while she is there and when she leaves the home.

Then I wouldn’t worry. Think instead of the good influence visiting a Catholic home might have on her.

It’s not my home, I’m just living with my parents while I attend college. Plus she’s my mom’s cousin’s half-sister, so I really have no say in the matter. All I can do is take the opportunity to preach the gospel to her by example.

But what if I’m wrong and she actually practices witchcraft?

Try not to worry. God is more powerful than any witch or witchcraft. As simply a visitor with your mother’s cousin she’s unlikely to practice her arts. At the end of the day God loves this woman, and you could always bless your home with holy water once she’s left 🙂

then, my friend in Christ, you already have the answer…
God bless you.

Alice - Don’t be fooled/lulled into thinking that New Age stuff is all happy hippie stuff and nonsense. May I recommend to you a YouTube presentation by a high flying American lawyer? ‘The New Age Movement and the Demonic - A Lecture by Constance Cumbey’ It is a bit of an eye opener.

Pray for her before she comes and pray for her in your mind while she stays and pray for her after she leaves. Witches are humans too and also God’s children. Most witches knowledge is against the devil, and they believe they can put the demons away. Most of them believe they do no harm and probably all of them cannot stop what they are doing all by themselves. Please remember St. Cyprian was a witch and a high one that is and he also had a change of heart.

I have had one of my friends pagan girlfriends as a visitor on multiple occasions without any ill effect on our home.

Absolutely correct. Such people are deluded.
