Inviting God into our Bedroom

My wife and I have good prayer lives. But, it is very individualistic. We tried praying together, doing the rosary together…but those attempts never lasted. It just feels awkward and uncomfortable…but we are trying and love each other very much and our love for Christ is strong.

One area that we have not invited Christ into is our sex life…and He should be there as well. Our bodies come together often enough but on a few ocassions - at least for me - our souls come together when having sex and we feel it is holy. I want that feeling more now that I have become less sexually selfish. I want to feel holy when having sex with my bride of 24 years everytime.

So, since we are not good at vocalizing prayers, I am looking for someone to write a prayer for us tthat we can recite together before coming together. Inside my head, I pray often and it sounds fine, but saying them outloud it comes out goofy and i sound illiterate.

Can you give me a few examples of a short prayer fo rthis activity? Thank you in advance and God Bless you all.

What is wrong with the literal interpretation? Inviting God to be a part of the most beautiful symbol and icon that points us to the marriage of Christ and the church and the love of the trinity?

Our lustful world tells us that sex should be worshiped. the OP is doing right by trying to make it worship in itself.

I would suggest reading the book of Song of Songs (or Song of Solomon) in the Old Testament together, and using various passages as “lovemaking prayers.”

My favorite verses in this very erotic book are in Chapter, vs. 6 and 7. I think these would be good lovemaking verses.
