According to news received by FCNN, “Ramtin Soodmand”,
he himself an Iranian Christian and the son of the late Martyr “Hossein Soodmand”, was verbally recalled by the agents of the Ministry of Information in Mashhad on Thursday, August 21, 2008, to appear before a secret tribunal. Since last Thursday there has been no news as to his whereabouts.
Despite the frantic efforts of his family to obtain information about his condition and general health and the reason for his detention, all inquiries have been futile and without any results.
It must be noted that even though there are no specific reasons given for the recall to the ministry and his subsequent detention, we demand his immediate release from detention and imprisonment.
We ask all Iranian churches inside and outside of Iran, and out of respect to the great martyr Hossein Soodmand, to begin a period of united fasting and prayer for this development.
May the memory of the late Rev. Soodmand remain alive in our hearts. He was the only Christian minister that, due to his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, was officially declared an infidel and in 1990 was hanged in the prison of Mashhad.
FCNN reports that the secret police, belonging to the Ministry of Information, have repeatedly contacted the family and relatives of Ramtin Soodmad by phone, and prior to his arrest, to force Ramtin to travel from Mashhad to Tehran and report himself to the ministry of Information agents.
It must be noted that a few days prior to these developments, another Iranian Christian resident of Mashhad was detained for questioning.
According to information received by FCNN, Ramtin travelled to the media centre of the Ministry of Information at 9:00 am on August 21, 2008, but was not heard of until 3:00 pm of the next day.
During this period of uncertainty about Ramtin’s whereabouts, his family frantically tried to contact the ministry for information, but no permission, in person or by phone, was granted with Ramtin.Pursuant to many inquiries and the threat of obtaining legal counsel and the public exposure of this illegal act, Ramtin’s family were contacted by the authorities and reassured that Ramtin was alive and in good health.
Yesterday, Ramtin was allowed to contact his mother briefly by phone, at which time he informed his mother that he was in good health, but did not disclose any other information about his detention or the reason for his arrest.
We must add that since the receipt of this news, we have had no further information about Ramtin and the other Christian brother who were detained by the authorities.
We thank all our brother and sisters throughout the world who have been praying and hope to see the freedom of Ramtin and all other Christian believers from their captivities and their return to the families and loved ones.Psalm 25: 21 says, “May integrity and uprightness protect me
