This is evil. I hope all the campaigning will make them realise this and spare her life- even better, abolish the stoning law.

God, please save Sakineh!

Religion of peace, huh?

God save this woman and change the hearts of those in Iran and all other nations fooled into such a horrific and mercliless “religion” based legal system.

My gosh! This is horrid! We need to pray for her-AND a country so barbaric they would even THINK of this!

Some of these Iranian people really need to be put in a mental institution. Is THAT how they treat a life?!? Read the words of Jesus the ONE TRUE PROPHET. I pray through the intersession of St. Mary Magdalene, who was spared from her executioners, and spared by the grace of Our good Lord and was forgiven, that her life may be spared. Let these people read John 8:7 “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Specially for adultery there should be no mercy according to Quran 24:2, it’s a direct order from Allah…

However, whether she really did commit adultery or not, may the Most High be with her and end her life fast without such torturing by the stones…

(Quran 24:2):
*YUSUFALI: The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.
PICKTHAL: The adulterer and the adulteress, scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment.
SHAKIR: (As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement.

I wonder what the statistics of male vs female stoning are. It seems they always “catch” the women. Where is the man with whom she committed adultery?

You make a really good point-I never thought about this.

I was going to do the “Facebook” thing and give you a thumbs up, but it really doesn’t seem right in this situation.

Islamically, the reason of why the male is not stoned is that he could be not married, so according to the Islamic law he should be lashed instead of stoned, while the female is married (according to the link) then she should be stoned.

She wasn’t married when she was accused, she was widowed.

One thing that may have helped her case is that her family has stood by her 100%. It was her son who began the campaign to save her life. They do not believe she is guilty at all.

She also has the support of quite a few Iranians.

She was not allowed access to a lawyer and did not have a lawyer until after she was sentenced.

Quote from article:
Mostafaei said the trial had not been fair because Ashtiani had no access to her lawyer during the trial.
“I entered the case after the verdict was issued,” he said, insisting that Ashtiani had never confessed to adultery and there were no witnesses.

The authorities n Iran just said they will review her stoning verdict. It does not mean she is safe. Lots of stoning verdicts are converted to death by hanging.

One case that caused an uproar in Iran was a women who was so distraught and ill when they ritually bathed her before stoning that she had to be carried out on a stretcher. They stoned her death while she was tied to that stretcher.

Here is the latest from the AP on this poor mother.

Even though, she would be in the same category of the married person, only if she had never married then the punishment will be 100 lashes.
