My first tour was in Mosul. I worry for the fate of the great Christian places there. I’ve already heard of the desecration of her cathedrals, I just hope it doesn’t carry over to historic sites. The oldest monastery in Iraq is in Mosul. All it’s monks and laity were martyred in the 18th century in one of the purges of Islam. Easter Mass was celebrated there when we had troops on the ground.
