The Iraqi armed forces announced the death of three personnel, including two commanders, as the result of a Turkish drone strike near the border between the two countries where Turkey frequently searches for Kurdish militia fighters without Iraq’s permission.

The Iraqi military’s official Security Media Cell reported Tuesday that a “Turkish aggression” launched by a drone “targeted the vehicle of the border guards in the Sidekan area and caused the martyrdom of the commander of the Second Brigade of the First District Border Guards, the commander of the Third Regiment/Second Brigade and the driver of the vehicle.”

The Iraqi military said it would soon provide more details on the incident. The Turkish military did not immediately comment on the reported casualties, but had recently announced conducting military activities targeting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Ankara views as a terrorist organization, in Iraq.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – An explosion targeted a U.S.-led coalition convoy in Iraq on Tuesday and caused no casualties, just hours after a newly formed Shiite militant group falsely claimed bombing a similar convoy at the Iraq-Kuwait border, the American military said.

The little-known Ashab al-Kahf group claimed in an overnight statement it destroyed “equipment and vehicles belonging to the American enemy” in a bombing targeting a border crossing south of the Iraqi city of Basra.

The group later published an 11-second video it claimed showed the blast, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant groups. The out-of-focus video shows what appeared to be an explosion and lights in the distance but The Associated Press could not verify the video.

Monitoring the situation. It does sound like some Iraqi commanders were killed by a Turkish drone and that would be bad. It must be two different stories but both out of Iraq. Hmmn.
