I think Catholics make up slightly less than one half the population in the north.
And we don’t hear much about the fighting anymore… is it much more peaceful now?

It’s much more peaceful yes, although I believe Jarnek said in another thread that there are still tensions that you don’t hear about in the press. Basically the IRA leadership made a strategic decision at a certain point to come out of the shadows, give up their weapons and participate in politics as a legitimate, law-abiding political party.

the only reason it’s still goes on is because the IRA won’t stop its bombings???
 
I know an Orthodox monk of Orangeman ancestry who makes shamrock cookies sprinkled with orange sugar on 17 March.
