Hello,

I am considering a marriage with an Eastern Orthodox person. My questions are:
  • do I need my bishop’s approval to marry him;
  • do I need special approvals to marry him in an Orthodox church;
  • and may I allow the children to be baptized as Eastern Orthodox or it is my obligation as a Catholic after marriage to baptize them as Catholics.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, Catholics who want to marry a member of the Eastern Orthodox Church are asked to follow the same process as all who want to enter into a marriage with a baptized non-Catholic.

However:
Can. 1127 §1. …Nevertheless, if a Catholic party contracts marriage with a non-Catholic party of an Eastern rite, the canonical form of the celebration must be observed for liceity only; for validity, however, the presence of a sacred minister is required and the other requirements of law are to be observed.
Failure to follow canonical form (i.e. married in Catholic Church or dispensed to be married elsewhere) does not affect validity when marrying an Eastern Orthodox member in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
