Just as the title says, is a fee required for a private confession, since you’re taking time away from the priest’s schedule? I won’t mind if there is. It’s just that I don’t have time to go on Saturdays for confession and all of the churches around me only have confessions on Saturday. Could someone lend me their knowledge on this? Thank you.

Thomas

No, Thomas, never! There is absolutely no fee charged, nor expected. Call the office or rectory, if no office number is listed in your church bulletin, or telephone book, or do an online search. It is not at all uncommon to arrange a reconcilation (confession) appointment with your priest. 😇

That would be forbidden for you to offer a priest money or for a priest to ask for any money in the context of sacramental confession.

The reason for requesting a private confession is because of mortal sin. The priest, as shepherd is there for any person in need of healing and reconciliation with God.

Good heavens, no. A priest would not accept money for confession.

If you wish to make a donation to the parish, that is your prerogative.

No fee. But usually, it is up to the priest to work the confession around his schedule. The priest at my parish allows people to leave him a voice message and he gets back to them when he can to set up an appointment.
