Is a gift appropriate for Year of the Priest?

I will be away from my local parish for the next several months and am disappointed I will not be there to celebrate the opening of the “Year of the Priests”. Is it appropriate for me to give a gift (perhaps a gift certificate) to my priest and confessor who has been instrumental in my return to the Church?
