Is a hurting a dog for the sake of discipline a sin?

Having more than one dog (unless you violate the law in doing so, in our town the limit is 3 dogs)is not immoral. What needs to be considered is that one can adequately care for any pet, and multiples make that more time/money intensive.

It costs around $200 per year to keep a dog vaccinated, licensed, basic vet care.

If you keep your dog inside, there will be more costs like nail trims ($10 per pop where I live).

Food is a cost. Caring for the dogs if you travel is a cost.

One needs to understand the responsibility, know how to care for dogs (as said above, smacking a male dog for going after a female dog in heat demonstrates some gaps in the pet owner’s knowledge).
 
Why would you hit a dog for doing what dogs are supposed to do?

If the dogs aren’t fixed, separate them. Anything less than that is cruel.

Read up on the mating habits of dogs if you aren’t sure what I am talking about. And quit hitting your dog.
 
Watching Lssie might not distract Romeopup. Besides, if Romeo can’t control himself, is he really going to be able to focus on Timmy down the well?
 
Some comedic writer I can’t remember had a female dog they were going to breed. When mating season came along all the male strays in the neighborhood showed up outside their home.

The OP can’t possibly be with the dogs 24/7. Julietpup might be expecting.
 
Never said it was immoral, just it is a new phenomena as to it being so common.

Now, if you own 6 dogs of both sexes and think you can discipline the dogs to keep them from mating when a female is in heat? One has a responsibility of understanding basic animal Care before owning so many dogs.

I was so disappointed to learn that fact. I remember watching a show about Lassie and how it came to be etc and it was on there that they said Lassie’s were male …all those childhood years watching Lassie save the day … and wishing and wanting a dog just like her! 😆
 
There should never be any reason for physically hurting a dog in the course of routine discipline.
If that’s what you are doing as a multiple dog owner you need to evaluate if you are suited to be a custodian of such animals.
 
Your dogs are just behaving nmally. If you want to stop it, have the female spayed and the male neutered.

I think any meanness toward a dog is just wrong.
 
Also, when I was small,I remember us having a female and a male. I noticed that the female had puppies, and we kept one of them (They weren’t fixed at the time.)

Then some time later our puppy grew up, and when she went down the block, she got married. I think she had 3 pups.
