I was raised Catholic and have recently returned to the Catholic faith. I am separated from my husband who was a Methodist. We were married by a Methodist minister and raised our children Methodist. Is that marriage valid in the tradition of the Catholic church?

Hi,

No, your marriage is not considered valid by the Catholic Church. If you haven’t gone to Confession, you need to. Leaving the Catholic Church is a mortal sin as is denying the Catholic faith to you children. You are in our prayers. Welcome home!
