Is a wedding on a Friday at 3 p.m. appropriate?

My son and his fiance have planned their wedding Mass for a Friday afternoon at 3pm, at her parish in another state. To me that seems a bit inappropriate, their joyful occasion coinciding with the exact time of Our Lord’s death on the cross. But maybe it is a way of uniting their marriage with His death. Their priest ok’d it, so he must not see a problem. Do you?

Every Mass we attend is a celebration of that moment. If she is planning a nuptial Mass, then she’ll be celebrating that moment what ever time and day she chooses.
