I am currently completing a year 12 Study of Religion research assignment and have chosen to write about abortion and have chosen Catholicism to base an understanding.

As an adherent of the Catholic faith, do you believe that abortion should be considered the murder of a human being or do you believe that abortion should be a legal choice to all Australian women?

What is your position on some states in Australia, including Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory, abortion being legal however, other states including Queensland and New South Wales being illegal?

Hypothetically, if abortion was legalised in all states in Australia, what would be the possible concerns for the Australian society and Catholic followers?

In terms of rape victims or defected children, should abortion be legalised?

The following links should assist you in better understanding the Catholic Church’s teaching on morality when faced with rape, incest, serious birth defects and threats to the mother’s life. If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please [contact Catholic Answers (http://www.catholic.com/home/contact.asp) directly.
