I was discussing holy water with a friend and mentioned that many times salt is added to the water. I was told we do not do that any more. Is the practice of adding salt to holy water still practiced?
Yes. The mixing of blessed salt with holy water is still practiced in the Church today. However, it is no longer used in the Rite of Christian Initiation (Easter Vigil of the Sacraments of Initiation–The Rites of the Catholic Church Volume One)
