Is an apostolic blessing continual, or does it end when the pope dies?

Pope John Paul ll issued an apostolic blessing (which I believe also includes an indulgence) for anyone who said the Divine Mercy Chaplet for those involved with abortion. He listed 5 things to pray for specifically when doing this. My question is, now that he is no longer Pope, and no longer living, do we still receive an Apostolic blessing or not?
 
My late grandmother received an Apostolic Blessing and Plenary Indulgence from Pope Paul VI at the moment of death if we pray the Holy Name of Jesus at the moment of death. I wonder if that only applied to my grandmother and her immediate family or if it applies to my siblings and I since we’re her grandchildren.
 
I’ve been wondering a similar question but haven’t gotten around to asking it yet. The version I heard is that Pope JPII offered an apostolic blessing to those who say the Divine Mercy at Adoration for all those suffering and dying within the next hour. I have seen a copy of a Papal Blessing parchment to this effect hanging or placed in two different Adoration chapels in two different states. I have been saying the Divine Mercy for the sick and those dying in the next hour at Adoration for some months when I go, and asking Jesus and Mary to please give any extra benefit (like indulgence) to the Holy Souls as I usually do, but I wasn’t sure if this Apostolic Blessing expired when Pope JPII expired. I did read in another source that the Apostolic Blessing for this particular Divine Mercy activity did not expire upon Pope JPII’s death, but I wasn’t sure that was correct.

In any event I would guess that Pope JPII being a saint now could and would easily intercede for Holy Souls if there is no more attached indulgence, but I’d like to know the correct answer.

I did some research on this and found out that both your pro-life Apostolic Blessing and mine about people dying in the next hour come from the same source, EADM, which is a Divine Mercy lay apostolate. They sell the print of the JPII parchment with the blessing on it, and enroll adoration chapels in their group. I just saw the parchment in another Chapel but it was buried at the bottom of a bookshelf with books on top. While I know there is nothing wrong with saying the DM at Adoration, I’m not sure what to make of this apostolate.
 
I cannot answer your questions at all, they are quite complicated, except to say Fr Hardon was asked in one of his talks if praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet at the time of a person’s death would give them sure salvation. He said no. Which makes sense because salvation is between God and that person. Praying for them must help though.
 
I think the Apostolic Blessing in this case would attach to the persons saying the DM, not to the persons being prayed for. The idea is if I say the DM before the Blessed Sacrament for “Jane”, who is suffering and dying in the next hour, then Jane gets the benefit of the prayers and I get the Apostolic Blessing, which might carry some indulgence or merit that I could then give to a soul in Purgatory.

I have no problem thinking Pope JPII gave all the members of this lay apostolate his Apostolic Blessing on some particular day as a one-time thing when he was alive. Popes do that sort of thing all the time.

I am however dubious that everybody praying the DM in Adoration gets an Apostolic Blessing for all time or each time they say the DM in Adoration, including presumably long after the Pope who made the grant is deceased.
