I say if the animals are treated humanely- absolutely, positively.

My wife is a scientist and decapitates hundreds of rats a year to look at stuff in their brain! She slices very, very thin slices on a teeny glorified meat slicer She is like the Dr. Mengela (sp?) of rats!

Seriously she doesn’t like this aspect of her job but if it helps people. . .

As long as it is done in the most humane way possible, the Church permits animal testing with the hope that it will bring about good for both humans and animals.
Medical and scientific experimentation on animals is a morally acceptable practice if it remains within reasonable limits and contributes to caring for or saving human lives (2417*CCC *).
The Church does not, however, permit animal testing for worthless causes like makeup manufacturing. The Catechism says:
It is contrary to human dignity to cause animals to suffer or die needlessly (2418).

Yep, I agree with this %100 thanks for the citation.

The Church approves, but I myself disagree as I don’t feel it necessary. We’re all going to die no matter what. I’m not going to damn people (in a manner of speaking) who do it, as long as they’re not doing it on wolves.🙂

I would hope these rats are dead already when they are decapitated??!!! Yikes! I can’t imagine them being put into little guillotines! 😦 Still I wonder if this is all necessary, I mean how many slices of brain tissue do they need anyway and for what? Sounds gross
