I think it’s so sad that Matthew and Sybil are dead. I really liked them. I know they wanted to leave the series though. I hope that Mary and Branson can find love after the deaths of their spouses.
Supposedly Mary’s new love life will be a focus of S4.I think it’s so sad that Matthew and Sybil are dead. I really liked them. I know they wanted to leave the series though. I hope that Mary and Branson can find love after the deaths of their spouses.
I thought it was handled well. There was a dinner table scene in an earlier episode where the bishop made some reference to Anglicans/ England (being right) and several family members chimed in asking if Central and South America and most of Europe were wrong. I think they mentioned other predominantly Catholic continents as well. They were sticking up for Branson and baby Sybil.
I LOVED the photo scene after the Baptism where the photographer posed the baby with Lord Grantham, the Dowager Countess and the Priest who baptized the baby!! That made me laugh out loud.![]()
I think its a reflection on us Americans. We are so use to our tv shows having a season that runs mostly from September until May. A show here can have 26 episodes in one season. As I understand it, most tv shows in Britain only have 8 episodes per season, maybe a special holiday show, is that correct?Well yeah, that’s the pattern. Six weeks on, then a year off.
Except you could possibly catch the next season via Internet from England in the fall.
The genius of the show is how they can maintain mass appeal over such long lead times.

Isn’t the concurrent “Midwife” series longer running than that?I think its a reflection on us Americans. We are so use to our tv shows having a season that runs mostly from September until May. I’m more than happy to wait until January 2013 for great writing and acting. I prefer quality over quantity.
Point taken, although William’s wedding really should not count; as he was already dying and Daisy married him only to comfort him at his end. It would have been more interesting had he somehow been saved, and the 2 of them then trying to piece together a viable marriage.Has anyone else noticed how engagements, weddings and pregnancies are really bad omens in this series? In the first three series, we’ve had:
A miscarriage (bad omen: pregnancy)
Wedding followed by groom being arrested (bad omen: wedding)
Soldier dies, marrying on deathbed (bad omen: engagement)
Fiancee dying, having just been jilted (bad omen: engagement)
Fiancee jilted at the alter (bad omen: engagement)
Wedding followed by bride dying in childbirth (bad omens: wedding and pregnancy)
Wedding followed by death of spouse right after he holds baby for the first time (bad omens: wedding and pregnancy)
Crisis pregnancy leads to prostitution and ruin (bad omen: pregnancy)
Do you mean “Call the Midwife”? According to the official website, there were 6 episodes in season 1 and 8 episodes in season 2.Isn’t the concurrent “Midwife” series longer running than that?
