Is Archbishop Viganò’s Rejection of the Second Vatican Council Promoting Schism?

He’s been saying some really bizarre stuff lately…

In my opinion, he should be evaluated by his physician.

It would be nice if he could be silenced somehow by the Pope. I’m guessing he wouldn’t listen though.

He’s probably at least in material schism at this point.

“…given that he has been in hiding since 2018. His writings are all we have. And now, even Father Weinandy questions whether they are truly authentic.”

It makes you suspect he is in ‘hiding’ but inculcated by his benefactors agenda. Was he more malleable than Cardinal Burke who has disappeared off the scene?

So many unanswered questions.

I guess the danger is that he is set up as some kind of “hero” of traditionalism like we see with Burke and Schneider

The quality of Burke and Schneider’s output is noticeably higher. They often say insightful and valuable things. Vigano always comes off more like a disgruntled employee, even at his best.

No doubt time will tell. Those of us who find healing, maturing and continuity in Vatican II are compelled to encourage accepting the Council as imperative to our faith life.

“The Church” is no criminal organization.

Individual members Of the Church—even very, um, ‘high-ranking ones’—can be involved in criminal activities totally outside the ‘organization’ even if they claim they are ‘sanctioned by’ said organization etc. Etc.

A simple study of history (Google Borgias) shows that mere clerical rank does not confer impeccability. To put it bluntly, clergy can sin just as badly as lay people.

But just as we would not be foolish enough if the Archbishop of Canterbury were found to be (secretly until ‘unmasked) the head of a vast criminal network to accuse the entire Anglican Church Of being a ‘criminal organization’, we would not do the same thing to the Catholic Church if members of it decided, for reasons of their own, to pursue criminal actions.

Right?

Yeah, this ‘forced into hiding’ thing needs to be called out.
Indeed. It’s absurd. Exactly how many archbishops have been killed, or detained, by the Pope in the last 400 years?

Intentionally or not, it feeds into some of the crazier radical anti-Pope Francis people who think he is running a junta or is a “Dictator Pope.” I have read stories written by some who have accused him of imprisoning Pope Benedict XVI.

(To merge two threads - it’s like the Catholic Qanon!)

I came across a book like that and I have to admit it was troubling. As was the attitude toward Benedict by some priests I met when I began my conversion, including one who dismissed anything he said and called him Ratzi the Nazi.

It truly is. I won’t post links, but there are some pretty scary “Catholic” websites out there.

Also a serious problem. As Benedict XVI has pointed out repeatedly, the differences between him and Francis are of style, emphasis, and approach. Ideologically and theologically they are indistinguishable for anyone who isn’t an expert in the nuances of Catholic theology.

I gave you a break by giving you the opportunity to clarify and correct your misapprehension.

Vigano has nothing to fear and saying he has to be in hiding is laughable.
Well maybe he could move in with Michael Voris.

Huh??? How about the German bishops. Look what they’re aiming for. That’s who the Pope should be silencing!!! I would suggest to you that what Archbishop Vigano says pales by comparison to what these German bishops are proposing.

You seem to have linked to both lifesitenews and a SSPX link.

How many CAF points do you get for that?

I linked to a better source, Fr. Thomas Weinandy. He also is concerned about the German Church.

This thread is about Vigano and his ravings.

There are other threads regarding the German Bishops.

Not to highjack the thread but, yes, I believe there are problematic issues arising from the German Bishops.

But let’s focus on Vigano.
