I know very well the position of the church on IVF, but I just found out my brother in law had some nerve damage as a result of some back surgery. As a result, sexually everything seems to work fine except he can’t ejaculate. They are looking into artificial insemination which is where they simply take his sperm and put it into her since he can’t. Is the church’s position on this the same as IVF or a little different?

Artificial insemination is prohibited. Conception must occur through normal marital means. It would be accpetable for him to take treaments that would help him ejaculate during the marital act, but he may not do anything that divorces conception from the marital act.

The Church’s position is the same for artificial insemination as it is for IVF and for the same reasons.

Your bil should consult a specialist about ways to help him function properly.
