I was reading an article in the catholic library here that talked a little about baptism and I would like to ask a question.
While reading the article “How to become a Catholic” I ran across a sentence that said this." A person who is bapitzed in the Catholic Church, at that time becomes a Catholic."
Now I read on further and saw about valid baptism and all that, but my question is this. Is it necessary to be baptized in order to be saved??? I am sure that this has come up at one time or another, but I did not see one that concerned this.

Yes, but it doesn’t have to be water baptism.

The Catechism addresses this question here. You can also take a look at the New Advent entry on Baptism for more information, specifically the section entitled “Substitutes for the Sacrament”.
