that brings up my question. apart from mindset, cultural conditioning, and bias (possible homophia…etc) what is it that convinces you that homosexuality is a sin? what is your witness?
Do you mean being gay, as in being attracted, or being actively gay? If the latter, what convinces me is the bible. Leviticus 18:22 and romans 1.

From Romans 1, Paul is talking about a bunch of people who are commiting all kinds of sins. Among them are what Paul calls “indecent acts”.
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,
slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
If you’re gay, just remain celibate.
being gay or lesbin is anti christian they should be killed
Where on Earth did you get that idea?

Many of the homosexuals I have known have been atheists. In guilt and defiance they have turned away from the God of their youth. It is in fact the atheists who are given to the same devilish thinking of which they accuse Christians. Every one one of them, like every Christian, has any number of deep dark secret of which he is ashamed. The difference between the atheist and the Christian is that the Christian acknowledges his sin to God and tries to do better, while the atheist denies sin and carries on business as usual. This may account for that unmistakable twin aspect of the atheist’s personality: his anger and his arrogance. Anger because he cannot find inner peace; arrogance because he believes Christians are surely too stupid to find it.

Your making misleading generalizations about atheists. First we don’t believe in the concept of sin, the word is meaningless. It’s ignorant for you to claim that atheists think Christians are too stupid to find inner peace, I’m sure they can and some do, I happen to think they are misguided but I can accept that it works for some. It’s also ignorant for you to claim that all atheists are angry because they cannot find inner peace. This is simply not true, what usually makes us atheists angry is when Christians make false assumptions about us.

*This is simply not true, what usually makes us atheists angry is when Christians make false assumptions about us. *

I don’t believe that. Christians don’t put signs on buses and subways railing against atheists the way atheists put signs on buses and roadsigns railing against God.

That’s anger. That’s the desire to openly insult God and Christians everywhere and has nothing to do with false assumptions Christians have about atheists.

I have dealt with many atheists over the years, and the single uniform trait I have noticed in every one of them is anger, subtle or brazen. They are not at peace with themselves who declare open warfare on God.

As Saint Augustine said:

So all men who put themselves far from [God] and set themselves up against [Him], are in fact attempting awkwardly to be like [Him]. And even in this imitating of [Him] they declare [Him] to be the creator of everything in existence and that consequently there can be no place in which one can in any way withdraw oneself from [Him]. . . . And was I thus, though a prisoner, making a show of a kind of truncated liberty, doing unpunished what I was not allowed to do and so producing a darkened image of omnipotence?

Your still generalizing about atheists. Atheists don’t go into churches and shoot abortion doctors. The man that murdered Dr. Tiller was a Christian after all, does that mean that Christians should be lumped into the same group as people like that murderer? I think these atheists signs your talking about are a response. Christian views are seen everywhere through today’s society alot of us atheists are tired of hearing about it, we believe Christianity to be false and want to spread the good news. I’m not surprised Christians see this as a negative but I see Christianity as generally a bad thing so we must agree to disagree. As far as not being at peace with myself, I don’t know what your talking about, I am a zen master, I am at peace. warfare declared on what? I don’t believe there is a god to be at war with.

Ah, so many people call themselves “Christians” but are they “living” Christians ? This man considered himself a Christian, but depending on your definition of what a Christian is, supposedly “a follower of Jesus Christ”, there is much to what that means and it does not mean to walk into a church and shoot someone to death.

Back to the subject, I do not believe being “anti homosexual” for what that means to me and how I apply it, is not being anti Christian. It is “preaching the truth in love.”
To me acting on same sex attraction is wrong and is sinful, and a person can chose not to act. An individual can get assistance in dealing with same sex attraction by going to groups such as “Courage” and receive counseling to help deal with the issue.
Also, it is wrong to force false teaching about homosexuality to youth in public schools.

Oh my! I’m going to give you the same answer I get from atheists defending filth on the television.

If you don’t like it, change the channel! 👍

Tiller was exactly the kind of Christian who is not really a Christian. His willingness to kill thousands of babies in the womb, and then call himself a Christian and actually attend a Church as an usher … imagine … how he ushered those babies out of their lives!

I would put Tiller and his murderer in the same category … lawless men, except that the man who killed Tiller thought he was saving babies’ lives, while Tiller was taking them and making a fine living at it.

Jibbler now I am involved in this discussion until now I have been just happy to read now I am upset.
Christians of the authentic variety do NOT go to church or abortion clinics and shoot abortionists, Christians of the authentic variety pray, pray pray both at churches and abortion clinics for the salvation of the soul of abortuary workers and if possible to save the lives of babies before they are slaughtered.
Jibbler you said “we believe Christinaity to be false and want to spread the good news”
Oh goodness I can see where that comment comes from. No Phd required to discern that voice!! You a Zen master? I can see where your thinking comes from. You at peace with yourself? Yeah right Jibbler! You dont believe there is a God to be at war with? Yeah right. Your “father” has been at war with my God since time immemorial.
Anyway Jubbler what are you doing on a catholic forum? spreading more of your untruths?
GraceAngel.

I think it’s funny to hear you people pass judgment on Tiller and even the man who killed him. Who are you to say they weren’t authentic Christians, according to your own belief system everyone is a sinner and all sins are equal. For all you know both of these men are in heaven and you’ll be spending eternity with them. Isn’t your god merciful?

Hey Charlemagne I have bicycles on my feet, so your arguments are irrelevant. God cares about the good in people’s hearts, not who they pray or don’t pray too. I have known many a non believer who have had more goodness and charity in their hearts than some of the most pious of people. We are all God’s children, made in His image. Such hostility from one who professes to love Our Heavenly Father :byzsoc: You make Jesus cry. And everyone knows that Satan loves to drink the sweet milk of Jesus’ tears

Oh, and in case I didn’t spell it out before, I repeat, We are ALL God’s children, made in HIS image. That includes atheists and homosexuals. Are you saying our Maker is flawed? He made diversity for us so that we can learn to love in our hearts and minds, through acceptance and understanding.

God DID NOT make people to be homosexuals. There is no gene defining a homosexual orientation.

My father was an alcoholic. He was not born an alcoholic. He was born with a gene that marked him as a potential alcoholic. He still had free will to chose to drinbk or not drink. He chose to drink.

The problem with active homosexuality is that it has been “re-classified” by the American Psychological Society as “normal”. SO, because of that now every practicing homosexual says that that is the way God made me.

There is more to this issue than meets the eye, but in my discussions with active homosexuals, I always ask what the difference is between the homosexual relationship between two men today and that of those mentioned in the accounts of Sodom and in the first chapter of Romans, they do not have an answer.

No one has to act on a desire. Active homosexuals to me, seem to act out because they freely chose to do so and do not care to call it sin. I chose to trust the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church as to the fact that active homosexuality is “intrinsically evil.” This is not being anto Christian. It is being faithful to Jesus Christ.

God cares about the good in people’s hearts, not who they pray or don’t pray too. I have known many a non believer who have had more goodness and charity in their hearts than some of the most pious of people.

Unfortunately for them, their goodness and charity is not toward God.

Another upside-down theology of Christ? 🤷

“Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.” Matthew 10:32-33

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; he who does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:16

“Fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’” Psalms 14:1

“If we have died with him we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us.”
2nd Timothy 2:11-12

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22: 37-40

Your argument is with Jesus Christ, not me. 👍

Charlemagne, I have no problems with Jesus. I have a problem with the evil in men’s hearts. I will pray for you.
