Is being Catholic important to you?

To build on that statement, did you ever notice that Catholic convert writers tend to be more eloquent about the Catholic experience than cradle Catholics?
They usually have some big dramatic conversion story to tell. As a cradle, I have no big conversion story. God, Jesus, Mary etc were always just part of my life. For a long time I sinned, then gradually by the grace of God I stopped sinning, step by step. I’m not sure what big eloquence I can attach to that, nor do I think it’s any more necessary to make a big speech about it than if I made a big flowery speech about how much I loved my parents.

I am a convert. After much discernment, I have decided to leave the Catholic Church. It was not a decision made over night. I finally realized that my worldview conflicted with the Catholic Church. I was banned on this forum many times for expressing my beliefs, further proof that my Christian walk is incompatible with Catholicism.

I’m just curious about what your RCIA was like? If it had been good you should have realized during it and not converted in the first place.

I doubt that’s why you were banned.

As to the OP, yes, being Catholic is important to me, even if I’m not good at it right now. It’s still the Truth.

Being Catholic is extremely important to me, and I am not even officially Catholic. Jesus founded the Church that I love so much.

I had some doubts in RCIA. Most were resolved before Confirmation. I took a leap of faith. In hindsight, I should have waited. I blame myself. Adhering to any doctrine absolutely is antithetical to my personality and would have been a problem in any church. I plan to remain independent, unless God speaks VERY clearly and audibly says to go here or there. I do tend to lean East. That’s a clue I believe. We’ll see in the coming months or years, as the case may be. Peace!

I was banned for expressing my beliefs and opinions about Catholicism, the Catholic Church, and for posting articles defending my decision to vote for Joe Biden from reputable Church sources. I was told that my posts were inflammatory, offensive and violated forum rules. I actually called the San Diego office and vehemently protested. It was like the fourth suspension. I was done, but once it lifted I began to lurk to see what discussions were taking place. They were similar in tone as before. This thread and another piqued my interest and so I shared. My initial reaction was to close my account and never log onto Catholic Answers Forum again. My anger has cooled. My resolve to leave the Church has provided a sense of peace and clarity. I don’t feel so anxious. A decision has been made. The negative feedback doesn’t matter anymore because I’m no longer Catholic.

This is why they were deleted; not for expressing your beliefs, but the way in which you expressed them. I’ve been banned before also, and learned my lesson on how to behave tactfully.
