Yes and he said he’ll wear it for the rest of his life. Catholicism is very close to him. In a magazine he called Catholicism the glam rock of all religions. He’s an Evangelical Christian. I’m tired of haters bashing him too.

That is Adam Clayton, U2’s bass player. The other three members including the best known Bono and guitar great The Edge proudly proclaim they are Christians. I think only The Edge claims to be Catholic. If not for Adam Clayton U2 may have become a Christian Rock band
Larry Mullen Jr. was the only one that was raised Catholic, actually.

None of the U2 band members is Catholic now:( and they’re the most famous Irish band in the history of rock and roll.
But their not anti Catholic either, so thats definately a plus. I think Bono is quite pro catholic actually, so thats really good.

Pretty sure that Bono is a member of the Church of Ireland. Which is NOT Catholic obviously.

Wow, ya think?🤷
I was saying he’s pro-catholic, not actually catholic. Lets just put it this way, he’s a devout christian.

I too was a HUGE U2 fan since I was very young, but only recently have been turned off by them because of Bono’s support for Obama (as mentioned by a previous poster). I’m a little saddened by it as I’ve been such a huge fan for so long – it feels like a horrible break-up, haha!

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m just not bothered by Bono supporting the current President. I don’t support the current President myself, but I’m not going to be upset with other people supporting him, it’s really their right and none of my business.

True, it’s their right, but I do consider it my business when they MAKE it everyone’s business by making it public. And I find it a little, hmmm trying to think of a word here, but annoying to say the least, that some guy from Ireland uses his celebrity to encourage support from Americans to vote for his candidate when he can’t even vote in the first place. Maybe that’s just me though.🤷 Anyway, the whole reason I even bring it up is because the original question of Bono being pro-life. I would assume the answer is no based on that.

I always get a little sad when I find out a favorite musician holds rather questionable political positions. 😦 But I still think we can appreciate their good music, and the other good deeds they do, without condoning their behavior.

I realize that a person’s views don’t have to agree with mine in order for me to enjoy their work – my life would be pretty boring if that were the case! I just can’t support someone’s work financially speaking, if they are a blatant supporter of anti-life supporters. Again, that’s probably just me. Not like I buy much music these days anyway – all my money goes to my kids, ha!

I try to sing this song
I try to stand up
But I can’t find my feet
I try, I try to speak up
But only in you I’m complete

Gloria in te domine
Gloria exultate
Gloria, Gloria
Oh Lord, loosen my lips

I try to sing this song
I try to get in
But I can’t find the door
The door is open
You’re standing there
You let me in

Gloria in te domine
Gloria exultate
Oh Lord, if I had anything
Anything at all
I’d give it to you
I’d give it to you

I don’t dislike U2, but I’m not a fan either. Their music is much too ‘poppy’ for my tastes.

I have never understood the interest in the private lives or opinions of musicians, movie actors, athletes, etc. For the musicians I like, their music offers me relaxation and enjoyment. However, I do not look to them to be my moral compass. Nor do I care what their moral opinions are, for that matter.

Their song “Bullet the Blue sky” is far from poppy:thumbsup:

Big U2 fan here - for years. Disappointed, however, in their very liberal stances. Still love their music though.
same here. i love rock music, but i will never let that influence my faith. music is just for my entertainment, especially when i’m driving

I love R.E.M. I love to listen to Michael Stipe sing and Peter Buck play guitar. I do like their songs in a musical sort of way. However, I disagree completely with their outlook as far as politics go – I am neither Republican or Democrat or even Libertarian. So, I guess I’ve learned to love their music and even maybe like them personally but I’ve also learned to accept that people have free will. If you feel you can listen to U2 without being influenced against the faith, then I think you’re ok to be a fan. If you decide you don’t like them after finding out about their politics, then I can understand that too.

my memory may be faulty, but i don’t think he considered himself a catholic. It might have been an “urban myth”, but i thought i read somewhere years ago that one of his parents was catholic and the other protestant.
horrors!!!🙂

If he is both Protestant and Catholic, does that make him:

Catheran
Cathestant
Lutholic
Protholic

Man, those all sound bad. But I don’t judge the guy – I’ll leave that to higher powers. Believe me, I’ve done much worse probably than he has.
