Okay… that’s great. I never said that. Contarini did. Take your issue up with him.
I did. Then you said I was being offended too easily–and I took that issue up with you. 😉

Peace and God bless.

I’m sorry, but that is patently false.

I must read the wrong Orthodox sources then. 🤷 He may well be a Saint, but that doesn’t deal with the theological issues raised by his works (as mentioned in that post). How does one tell reliable Orthodox sources from unreliable ? For one who is not, this is a difficulty. 😦 Do you deny the existence of Father Romanides & his sentiments ? Of the Athonite monks, & theirs ? Both are anything but Romephile - and there are Orthodox who do not acknowlewdge the action of the Patriarch Athenagoras in 1964, when he & Paul VI lifted the excommunocations of 1054; whom are RCs to regard as giving the Orthodox line on these matters ? By all means let Rome be hated and excommunicated - or regarded as no longer excommunicated: but please, let the Orthodox make up their minds which it is to be 😦

Never apologise for giving corrections BTW 🙂 - they’re welcome
The Orthodox Church certainly does view St. Augustine as a Saint. Some refer to him as Blessed Augustine, but not in the Roman sense of ranks before being named “Saint.” This is akin to “Venerable” Bede. He’s still St. Bede, but many call him Venerable Bede.

There’s also a great book written by (soon to be Saint) Fr. Seraphim Rose. It’s called The Place of Blessed Augustine in the Orthodox Church. Give it a look over and you might be surprised. 🙂

In Christ,
Andrew
