I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with Charity Mobile. I saw they were Catholic.

What do you mean by “legit”? They are one of many resellers of cell phone plans. They purchase wholesale from the major carriers (ATT, Sprint, etc.) and resell it under their own branding.

They don’t just resell cell phones, they donate 5% of your bill to charity.

Many, many companies offer affinity programs or to donate a portion of your purchase to a designated charity. If you have questions about how those donations are distributed, the company should provide disclosure documents.

I’ve been using Amazon Smile for years to donate to my favorite charity, many Catholic schools are on the Amazon Smile charity list. Our hosts, Catholic Answers can be selected as your Amazon Smile charity!

This company actually says their Catholic, which is hard to come by.

Is your question if the claims of this company are legitimate? You would have to ask them to prove that the company is Catholic.

They may be, they may not be. They are reselling services of major carriers and I promise you that the major carriers make no claim about the religious persuasion of their company.

That’s what I thought at first too. Then I asked if they were Catholic and they said yes. Also they usually say God bless before you hang up. Which is nice in today’s atmosphere.

Are you saying they are owned by the Church, a Church Charity, or just some Catholics with marketing savvy?

Catholic owned businesses are allowed to use effective marketing, even gimmicks, coupons, etc. I’m not suggesting their business model is dishonest and it should be possible to check whether they do make the charity donations on your behalf.

The key consideration with such offers is whether they can still deliver on their charity promise at a competitive price, or is the charity just marking up their pricing .

If I just like the people and their attitude, I’m willing to pay an above average price.

Another reason I feel their right is because usually if something is harder then it’s the right choice. Verizon holds back features like WiFi calling and such. I feel to detract from them and get people to switch. I don’t like that, and although they are on their network I don’t feel morally right switching, again.
