Is Christianity a false religion copied from Mithraism?

I am taking a comparative mythology class at a local community college, and the textbook as well as the professor said that the Christian faith took some of it’s most significant elements (Seven sacraments, Last Supper, miracles, and other such things) from a Persian religion dedicated to Mithra (or Mithras). Which came first? I certainly don’t want to accept that my faith “copied” these elements from another religion, but how can I prove it?

While Mithraism appears to have held many similarities to Christianity, it is much more likely that it was Mithraism which copied from Christianity rather than the other way around. The Catholic Encyclopedia explains, “Our knowledge regarding Mithraism is very imperfect… mostly ingenious guess-work; of the real inner working of Mithraism and the sense in which it was understood by those who professed it at the advent of Christianity, we know nothing… Some apparent similarities exist; but in a number of details it is quite probable that Mithraism was the borrower from Christianity” (see Mithraism).
